It is not possible to protect our Constitution and our country at the same time. |

That is what the Senate is telling us. It was not possible to have the new FISA bill without the immunity for the telecoms in it. Why? Because the Republicans wanted to use it as a political issue against the Democrats. Also, they wanted immunity for all the criminals, not just the telecoms. Also, they wanted to have the laws changed to require more oversight on the next President. Reports are that it will provide more oversight with the new FISA provisions. However, it is several years late.
We have no problem with oversight on the next President. Our problem is lack of oversight on the present President. It is a disgrace what this Senate has done. There is no excuse. There is no leadership. There is no Constitution. There is only a criminal enterprise fueled by fear, political and otherwise.

2. By George. I think you got it: this bill is nothing about protecting our country, it is about |
|
protecting criminals and criminality, creating fear and apprehension, and spying on and harassing the enemy within (all who would oppose King George and/or his PNAC agenda, for you are either with us or agin' us). :D
