Should Obama care that Bill Clinton is off sulking?
Rendell says it may be time for Bill Clinton to 'get over it'

(CNN) — Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a longtime backer of both Bill and Hillary Clinton, said Thursday it's time for the former president to move on if he is still upset about his wife's loss to Barack Obama in the prolonged Democratic primary.

Rendell, whose ardent support of Clinton proved critical in her decisive Pennsylvania win in April, said he's not sure if Bill Clinton is still upset with the ultimate result, but made clear he thinks it’s time for the former president to rally behind the party's presumptive presidential nominee.

"Bill's my friend. If that is true the way he feels, he's got to shake it off, get over it, get back in the game and help elect Senator Obama," Rendell said on MSNBC.

"Like everybody else, has to listen to Hillary," Rendell also said. "And Hillary said it best — there's no sense in looking back and wasting any energy."

The former president has come under criticism for remaining conspicuously silent with regards to his support of Obama, even more than two weeks after his wife formally ended her campaign bid. Bill Clinton's office finally released a short statement earlier this week saying the former president is "is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States."

We all know that at best, the reviews were mixed regarding if Bill helped Hillary during the primaries. At worst, he cost her dearly with his controversial remarks with racial undertones.

The Bill Clinton of old that I worked to elect and admired, would be a wonderful asset and campaigner for Obama. The contemporary Bill Clinton seems to be a shadow of his former self, too consumed with Hillary winning (or now Hillary losing) to do Obama much good.

Back to the question: Should Obama care one way or the other what Bill Clinton does in regards to his campaign? Honestly, I'm not sure if Bill serves as a help or a hurt at this point.

7. He's had a funny way of showing it over the years...

I think Bill Clinton truly loves only one person in this world. The person he sees in the mirror.

2. Frankly, I hope the next time I hear WJC speak is in a non-prime-time slot at the convention....

He cannot help Obama... he can only hurt.

Everywhere he goes, the focus is about him and not our candidate.

He was a gaffe-machine during the primaries....and the Obama people won't be able to keep him on message.

Reporters will keep pressing him to get him to say something controversial about Obama, and they'll eventually succeed.

Just stay home and out of the spotlight, Bubba. We'll give you a 30 or 45 minute slot on Monday at the convention.

Until then... stay the fuck away.

Hillary, on the other hand, can be a big help.

12. I think they've done enough and I don't mind letting them have more time
I know if it were me, I would disappear for months. So I think we should give Hillary credit for doing a unity event so soon (even though it's most likely just to get $$$$).

13. Yep - Today Hillary is asking her big contributors to fund Obama's campaign.
This event has been in the works for a couple of weeks.

I read yesterday that Obama is expecting 75M from her supporters. Think that is high but it is the general now and maybe they will pony up that much.

Meanwhile, Obama asked his big donors to help pay off the debt of Hillary's campaign. The figure he wants his donors to give to her is 10M.

7.5 to 1.

18. Not really. Bill will either stop being a baby or not. We go on with or without him.
Bill has been a complete jerk about this. He was the young guy with no experience we all got behind 16 years ago, and now he thinks the party cannot go on without him. We can and we will.

19. Obama is running for office, he should be about his business and minding it
What Bill does is his business, he doesn't owe anyone anything.

If the Obama's were to publicly apologize to Bill and he accepted it, they might have a right to ask him to help.

21. Bill Clinton should sit most of this one out.
Every now and then a highly scripted event would be okay, but only when Obama is really riding high in the polls and only with complete contol over content.
