Virginia, Virginia, Virginia
My Prediction, If we win Virginia on the night of the Election, we will have enough to beat McMain
in almost a landslide.
By the time they get to Virginia, and the polls close at around 8pm Eastern Time we will know.....

Like Florida in 2000, Ohio in 2004, its Virginia 2008
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
:hi:

My prediction for 2008

1. Virginia and Pennsylvania
By the time either of them come in, we'll pretty much know who the next president will be.

If Obama wins Virginia or McCain takes Pennsylvania, the die will be cast for the rest of the night.

7. Go ahead and call Pennsylvania for Obama now.
100,000 new Democrats registered statewide before the primary?

Enthusiasm coming out of Philly like has never been seen before?

Please. McCain doesn't stand a chance in PA.

12. A recent poll had him just 4 points behind Obama. McCain still has an outside shot.
Numerous "old Democrats" in Pennsylvania may betray the party and go with McCain, which will make up for the 100,000 new Dem voters.

13. You underestimate political inertia in the rust belt
We won't really have much of any accurate gauge of how things might differ this year until after the Republican convention.

After that, if Pennyslvania. Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio are looking close, all bets are off.

16. With all due respect, in this election the inertia in the rust belt...
Is no match for the inertia in West Philly.

That doesn't mean I'm not going to work my ass off, I certainly still will.

3. The first two states on election night to report are KY and Indiana
KY is probably lost, but if Indiana reports in as "Too close to call" then it in most likelihood will be a good night for Obama, considering no dem has won IN since 1964 and most of the time we have lost it by 15-20 or more points. The last time it was really competitive was in '76 when Jimmy Carter lost it by 3 or 4 points.

6. He has 0 chance at south carolina
barring a plague killing off all church going whites. I don't think he has much of a chance at Georgia either. NC is a better shot than either.

8. I'm hoping for Barr to have an impact
Recent polls show Barr pulling 6% in Georgia, which would be amazing. If Obama starts pouring money into Atlanta, we may have a shot.

30. I just went over and looked @ Barr's campaign site. He's dissing McCain for..
... his stance on gun control.

Maybe you're right.. McCain is trying so hard to please all sides, that at some point he's going to lose a good section that Barr could actually profit from.

Maybe we should sign up at his blog and "talk 'em up" -- http://www.bobbarr2008.com/

26. Obama is looking strong in all the recent NH polls.
It is still early and I know they have some kind of weird affection for McCain up there, but NH is looking good so far.

18. Map
I like your map but I have to disagree on a few points.

Missouri-forget the recent Survey USA poll.Obama can win Missouri. This Is a real battleground state
too many assume we are a safe Republican state.Carter and Clinton carried Missouri when they won.
Through the 90's Democrats won most statewide elections.Remember In 2000 Mel Carhanen died but voters came out to vote him over Ashcroft.Jay Nixon could be elected Governor In a landslide.

Indiana-Like Missouri Obama could over perform.Even Survey USA which got the missouri and Indiana
Primarys badly wrong has Obama basiclly tied here with mccain.

SOuth Carolina/North Carolina-If Obama wins one It will North Carolina.Polls have Obama stronger In
North Carolina than people would have thought. And Bob barr may help Obama even more.

Georgia-I think with Barr In this race you could be right on this.

Florida-I think it Is In play but considering the past I think we should be prepared for a loss.
I think If Mccain picks Crist or Lieberman as his VP he may be worried about Florida.

Alaska-Obama Is the first Dem since Johnson with a shot here. The uppopulity of Bush Is a plus and
we even have a shot at retring Ted Stevens.

9. To elevate your hopes further, Parche. My red county
ran out of Democratic ballots on the day of the primary. TM had to wait in line for over an hour to vote.

The last time I saw a turnout like that here, Bill Clinton defeated HW Bush.

:woohoo:

19. I give Virginia a very high chance of changing this year
My mom and brother, both hardcore Bush supporters the last 2 elections are currently disillusioned with McCain and the Republican party, and will not vote for McCain. My brother is warming up to Obama and doesn't have anything negative to say about him. He also watches Olbermann now. I couldn't be happier with how they have changed. They used to criticize me all the time, saying that Bush will turn things around, the war in Iraq will go smooth. They laughed when I joined protests against the war. I don't bring it up but they know now that I was right.

I have a good feeling that this same thing is happening across all of Virginia.

28. Politico=Right Wing Cesspool, and that's being kind:
http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/05/30/allen/

Politico reporter Mike Allen, formerly of The Washington Post and Time, appeared yesterday on the show of right-wing radio host Mike Gallagher. The two of them guffawed together at how absurd are Scott McCellan's claims that the media was "deferential" to the Bush administration and then Allen said this:

ALLEN: And indeed, Scott does adopt the vocabulary, rhetoric of the left wing haters. Can you believe it in here he says the White House press corps was too deferential to the administration?

Think Progress has the audio, which makes even clearer how eager Mike Allen was "to adopt the vocabulary, rhetoric" of the right-wing operatives which Politico exists to serve. Actually, not even Karl Rove -- who gave Allen and comrades their marching orders earlier this week when he said during an interview with Sean Hannity that McClellan "sounds like a left-wing blogger" -- goes so far as to refer to those critical of the media's war coverage as "left wing haters." But Politico "reporter" Mike Allen does.

After hearing his repugnant comments, I e-mailed Allen last night and asked him several questions, including (full email is here): "Is anyone who believes that the media was too deferential to the Bush administration in the run-up to the war a 'left-wing hater?'" and "Can you give a few examples of the 'left-wing haters' you were referencing?" and "Are there 'right-wing haters'? If so, any examples you can provide?" Allen sent me a completely non-responsive reply that had nothing to do with what I asked. When I emailed him again and emphasized that I was particularly interested in his use of the term "left wing haters," this is the reply he sent me, in full:

Ah, gotcha. No, you can call them "critics" or "skeptics" or "opponents" or whatever. My only point was that McClellan has now validated points of view that the administration had in the past pushed back against -- and that, in fact, have been proven empirically in many cases. For instance, the Larry Lindsey $100-200 billion was once considered heresy by Scott and his colleagues. Now, it looks like a lowball...

When he referred to "left wing haters," he just meant "critics" of the administration -- war "skeptics" and Bush "opponents." That's all synonymous in his mind with "left wing haters" -- interchangeable terms. Thus: "you can call them 'critics' or 'skeptics' or 'opponents'" -- or the phrase I used: "left wing haters" -- "or whatever." So according to Politico's chief political correspondent (the former White House Correspondent of Time), administration critics are, by definition, "left wing haters."
