Simple question: when are VP choices typically announced? |
|
When do the two major parties typically announce their VP choices? If this year is like last election years, when should we expect to know the running mates for Obama and McCain?

2. Up until '80 at the convention |

In '84 Mondale announced Ferarro just prior to Dem convention and since then on the whole both parties announce just before the convention starts. So my guess is that it will be in August for both candidates. McCain will probably wait until Obama makes his pick and then try and counter it. Our convention is first.

4. Kind of depends on when the convention is. |
|
For instance in 2000 Gore selected Lieberman on August 8, and the Dem convention was August 14-17. Kerry did select Edwards on July 6, but the Dem convention was a full month before the Dem convention is this year.
