McBush leads Obama by only 43% to 38% IN TEXAS! Outgoing TX Sen Cornyn leads Dem. Rick Noriega by 2%
Freshman Sen. Nightmare John "Box Turtle" Cornyn has 38% support compared to 36% who favor our Democratic nominee, Lt. Col. Rick Noriega!

Watch as Texas turns BLUE!

If this was as much fun for you to read as it was for me to post, please keep this kicked up!

9. Seventeen percent undecided, that's one in every six
Obama could be trailing by 5 points, or trailing by 22 points, or leading by 12 points. There are too many undecideds in this poll to say anything for certain about Obama's prospects in Texas. I hope he wins Texas, but this seems like a lolpoll to me, along the lines of Faux News' national poll showing Obama leading by 4 points with 19% undecided.

I did like the part of the poll showing Barr with 1% and Nader with 1%.

:hi:

10. And the bad part is that the "undecideds" are just pissed because they
wanted Ron Paul instead of McCain. But please let us have some fun in our delusion. It's not often we get to pretend that Texas will turn blue! And we just might get Rick Noriega into Cornyn's spot. That would be a coop.

He's gaining on Cornyn in the polls. I gave a small donation last week in support. That would be such an amazing victory!

17. I hear nothing but sighs when I ask TX repubs who they'll vote for
Considering that I live in what used to be one of the reddest counties in the state - possibly the nation - that's a hell of a thing.

20. We are in the southern suburbs of Texas. The scary part is that many of the people
my husband works with call themselves "moderates" and like McCain. They think McCain is moderate as well. Ron Paul is from our county (Brazoria) so that probably accounts for all the signs I see.

But I am really hoping for some change with Obama sending funds down here. Would love to see Noriega take Cornyn's seat.

I can only report what I hear/see locally and we don't know all that many people since we've lived here just five years. So I do certainly accept that others in Texas could be hearing very different things.

24. Not trying to argue
:)

After all, Ron Paul's fans are still trying to get him elected even though he ended his campaign.

I suppose what I'm trying to point out is the fact that there's not a lot of love for John McCain down here in the big state. The 38% that voted for Huckabee is solid evidence.

Call me a dreamer. I don't care. I think Texas is going shock the shit out of the nation.

13. I saw that dumb-ass Cornyn "corny" commercial!! I'm not convinced that Texas will go BLUE
at all. The Right Wing zombies there worship anyone who is RED.

I do wonder, however, if there could be a scenario where Obama wins a large percentage of the popular vote but loses states or the Electoral Vote. That could happen. These polls only provide a snapshot of the popular vote but not an indication that it will matter in terms of the Electoral College, which should be abolished!!! x(

19. There are a LOT of disenfranchised voters in TX these days.
I can actually envision Obama grabbing TX's electoral votes in the GE.

There are a LOT of disenfranchised voters in TX these days. Although the housing market hasn't affected us as much as the rest of the country, and despite that the state's economy is still chugging along at a relatively good pace, the price of oil has everyone I meet talking.

And gas prices in TX are a BIG deal as we have have poor mass transit, and TX is a pretty big place-- so we're all getting hit pretty hard by the price of oil (and, since oil is traditionally our state religion, we all pretend we know what we're talking about).

A Blue Texas is simply not outside the realm of possibility this November...

22. It looks like it may actually be a possibility -
Texas is a very big state so I'm not surprised that I'm reading everyone's impressions & they are all different. If there's one thing I've learned about Texans (I'm not native) is that it is a very independent place. Sometimes I feel like I live in a different country. That can be good or bad - not knocking it. It's just very different down here & there are a whole lot of electoral votes.

In Houston they are even talking seriously about mass transit now, and you know how it usually is...

23. I am hoping for some help from Hillary down here. She mobilized the hispanic vote in the primaries
and they were mainly for Bush in 2004 so I'd love to win that block back. I've spoken to women in my area who are active in the local politics and really liked both candidates. Some still hope Hillary will be VP. I think she could do alot to help get out the vote down here. One of the reasons I am contributing to her "pay off the debt" requests.
