5. You bet... I'd sign that petition.

I've found that arguing Obama's merits just gets entrenched Republicans more excited and involved. They seem to have much more trouble with statements like, "Yeah, but McCain isn't a *real* Republican, like Barr is... What a shame that a guy who really believes in Republican values has to run from outside the system. You'd better be careful, or you might get McCain elected, and find out that he's even less Republican than you think."

Stuff like that seems to bring them down to the mumbling stage. They know why I'm saying it, but they have a hard time disagreeing.

10. So, you will work for the defeat of the Democratic nominee?
By signing a petition?

14. I don't understand your question...

Barr going into the race would take votes away from McCain, not Obama. Helping him get on the ballot is great for Obama.

I'm not sure why you'd ask that question.

12. I live in a red Ohio town
and hear a lot of folks saying they don't like either McCain or Obama. I bring up Barr to help them out a little. This town voted 70% for Bush last time. I drove around town today going to sales and spotted 3 Obama signs and not one McCain.

26. No need.
The same energy, put into schlepping for Obama, will pay dividends just as great, and you won't have to hold your nose to do it.

16. Don't the Libertarians already have a ballot spot?
Do all parties have to do this in Ohio every year?

19. I always sign petitions to get folks on the ballot as I believe there should be more options, BUT
in this case, in Ohio I believe we are better served registering new voters.

24. Absolutely we should help.
Bob Barr might get 7% of the vote in Georgia and might take away votes from McCain in many states in the South and Rocky Mountain states. This may be all we need to win several red states.

Ralph Nader will be lucky to receive .5% of the vote this time, especially after his stupid "Obama talks white" comments.

25. I would sign to get him on the ballot
Heck, I might even donate a few bucks if they promise not to spam me with junk email every day for the next decade - I donated to 10 candidates through ActBlue a few years ago and I think I have gotten an email a day from each of them for the past two years now.
