It may be just me but I get the impression that McCain is just "mailing it in"

Now that we know that McCain isn't even working weekends it seems to me that his responses are getting more and more perfunctory and that he is becoming dispirited and giving absolutely terrible soundbites.

The Supreme Court gives him a chance to hit a couple out of the park and he acts like a guy at the bowling alley who tells you that he is giving up his 23 year fight to rid flouridation in the city's water supply:

He seems to be completely dehydrated as he can't even get his tiresome little sound bite out with out 5 gulps of coffee.

Is this guy just mailing it in?

7. I think it's a combination of things

One - His health is failing.

Two - He's taking advice from his old advisers and the Bushie crew and I feel these two camps are at odds. Therefore, his message is unclear and often confusing.

Three - Cindy's not as enthusiastic as she is portrayed in the media.

Four - They keep trying to stage him like he was Dubya. Whereas that worked for captain stupid, the flags, the green backgrounds, the giant rugs, all of it makes John McCain appear tiny, old and foolish.

there's no fervor, no vigor, no ideology, no hope. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop...I'm cautiously optimistic, but keeping my eye on the thugs and on Mitt.

The idea is: Nothing can ruffle me. Nothing you can ask me can throw me off. I'm not going to get excited about anything because I'm above it all. I know where the strings are pulled, etc etc etc.

Plus, he has to drive to the post office first to buy some new stamps -- What in tarnation! He remembers when stamps cost 6 cents! -- and then drive home with his turn signal blinking the entire way.
