Do you know what I'd really like to see at this Unity event? |
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton aggressively and specifically attacking John McCain and his policies, together. Too much of the narrative recently has been "McCain camp puts Obama on defensive" (I know that this is partly the media's fault , because they do a media black out on all of the McCain screw ups, but there were some areas- like pointing out McCain's own public finance shenanigans- that I was disappointed surrogates did not seize upon earlier), and this event will get a lot of media attention. No lofty "We cannot sacrifice four more years of Bush policies", or "McCain's health care plan would leave millions uncovered". Specific, fair yet brutal, detailed attacks. I mean, there will be some of the lovey dovey unity stuff of course, but I think they really need to seize upon this moment for the united Democratic party to define McCain.

1. Good point. A one two, direct challenge to the morass that is McCain, |
would be good. There'll be a lot of media coverage, as you note.
