BREAKING: McCain is WEAKEST Ever.
Edited on Fri Jun-27-08 11:24 AM by berni_mccoy
Electorally speaking that is:

http://www.electoral-vote.com/

Strong Dem (172)
Weak Dem (57)
Barely Dem (88)
Exactly tied (27)
Barely GOP (38)
Weak GOP (85)
Strong GOP (71)

Strong GOP states at their weakest ever.

I don't care about what anyone says about polls this far from the election. Neither Kerry nor Gore showed this kind of strength of opposition at this point in the campaign.

On Edit: if you consider Landslide Category that grantcart and I had previously discussed on an earlier poll, Obama has 117 EVs in the landslide category, while McCain has only 33 EVs in that category.

8. In 2006..

...Indiana's 8th district flipped and elected Ellsworth, a blue dog Democrat. That's a pretty conservative region, so there's always hope.

6. They most certainly didn't have this strength
172 Strong Dem to 71 Strong GOP is a stunning gap and shows McCain is starting out with a huge disadvantage. I predict lots of surprises on election day.

7. I'll feel a lot better when Ohio and PA are darker blue.
As long as those two remain close, McCain still has a chance.

10. Obama can lose PA, OH, and FL and still win
provided he takes Indiana, CO, NM, and either VA or NC.

13. I wouldn't rule out Kansas
We have a popular Dem governor and two of our four Reps are Dem.

At least I wouldn't make it "strong GOP"

14. You are Correct
about previous campaigns. I don't ever remember the map looking like this for Gore or Kerry. And Obama not only has the map on his side, he has great advantages in money, volunteers, and enthusiasm.

I really, really hope that we don't slack off because of the PERCEIVED strong lead.

IMO there is really no reason to concern yourself with that thought.

It's killing McCain morale and fund-raising.

25. No it's not.
McCain is doing just fine with fundraising. He's even with Obama. And the RNC is beating the DNC.

Remember everyone left McCain for dead in New Hampshire, but he stunned them all. He knows how to come from behind.

16. Gotta make it stick in November.
This is good; but it doesn't count till then. And it has to be big, because the GOP will find ways to make sure that many Dem votes don't count.

19. I continue to be confused by CT
No chance in hell that CT will be anything but blue. Not going to happen. And frankly, having Joementum tied to his ankles will only hurt McCain here.

22. I'm not going to be counting any chickens just yet...
We should count on the polls getting a lot "tighter" as November approaches, so we will need to battle the perception game harder than ever. It will need to be obvious that Obama's on top in a big way or they will steal another one, guaranteed.

26. That Tennessee number isn't correct.
How do I know? Because they haven't taken a freakin' poll here since April 3.

Who KNOWS how Obama is stacking up against McCain here. That map shows only a guess.

27. They cite a June 24 Rasmussen poll.
If you go to the web page ( http://www.electoral-vote.com/ ) and mouse over (or click on) Tennessee, you'll see what poll(s) they are using. This site seems to just take "latest" poll numbers, which typically are either Rass. or Survey USA. Especially Rass, in my opinion, tends to be weighted towards Repubs, so I would take this picture as generous to McCaint, if anything. Just my opinion, though.
