Hillary would make a GOOD Vice President
I am not saying she would be, not saying she has to be, but I am saying that if she were chosen I think she would do a good job and would work hard for the campaign. She made a great appearance today with Obama. She knows in her heart what is best for this Country. She loves this country. I think she was very misunderstood in the primaries. She is a good democrat, and I have a lot of respect for her. She is more than a wonderful woman. She is as wonderful person.

IF she is not chosen, however, it wont change my vote. I will still vote for Obama. I also think Biden and Edwards would make good choices, but I think (personally) that Hillary is the BEST choice.

1. I want someone who will help us win

and I think Hillary and Bill will only hurt the ticket.

Hillary seems like one of the worst choices.

Not saying that she would be a BAD VP, but I don't see any point in picking her especially with Bill's baggage.

IMO, it would come back to haunt us. It just gives me a really bad feeling.

4. true, most would be
but we also need someone who will help our chances, and not hurt. :)

No offense to Hillary, I'm all for unity, but I think she would be a bad VP choice.

7. Hagel seems more interested in being Obama's Secretary of Defense
according to a Bloomberg news story I posted earlier today.

3. If she were chosen, I certainly hope that she and Bill would have
submitted to a full disclosure vetting, including donors to his library and charitable foundation. I would want all the baggage of the past and the present dissected by the Obama campaign for a reality check on whether or not this could work. If it turns out to be too much, (which I think it is), I would hope that the Clintons would understand if not chosen.

11. Right. It may already have been determined that it won't happen...
...for precisely the reasons you describe.

Nobody seems to be asking, no trial balloons.

I'm thinking that it's understood or has been discussed that Obama insists upon disclosure, Bill and Hill would not agree to it, case closed.

10. I don't see it...
The past is the past and Obama is the future. Old politics are out of touch, if you don't think so, just look around. Bill Clinton kept Alan Greenspan as fed chief, a Milton Freidman follower, that kind of economics is why we are where we are. The future is here and it is time to turn the page!! If you you don't believe read "Greenspans Fraud"!

14. After mentioning assassination 4 times? And Bill's role? I dunno. How about SCOTUS instead?
Hillary Clinton has a fine legal mind and works extremely hard. I think she'd be an excellent Supreme. Or maybe Health Czar at the Cabinet level.

Oh, regarding the assassination mention -- I was totally ready to give her an "exhaustion" pass on that last one ("Anything can happen in June") as creepy as it was for me to hear it said out loud. Then it turned out she had already said something similar 3 times in the previous few months. That was just wrong.

And Bill... good old Big Dog... If she were president, he'd be co-president. If she's veep, where does that leave him?

16. yes...and racism from the other side...it was definitely a
contentious primary.

But, it appears that they have put that aside. It would be hard for me to do what Clinton is doing after they called her a racist--it shows how awesome she is.

She would make a great VP.

15. She'd make a perfectly good VP, but a lousy candidate.
Edited on Sat Jun-28-08 08:13 AM by Donald Ian Rankin
If Clinton were Obama's running mate and they won the election, I suspect she'd do a fine job as vice-president, but picking her would - I suspect - reduce his chances of winning.

Bill Clinton was the Republican's worst nightmare - a successful 2-term Democratic president. They hate him and Hillary more than just about anyone else in American politics, and if she's the running mate they'll turn up to vote like hornets whose hive has been knocked over.

Also, the two of them have just fought a reasonably acrimonious primary; running together gives the Republicans all sorts of opportunities to replay all the criticisms they levelled at one another.

Obama might well get more votes with Clinton as running mate than with anyone else, but I suspect she'd add still more to McCain's tally.

Clinton should certainly be given a prominent role in an Obama administration, but probably not vice-president.

17. I agree --- BUT
Obama need's some space -- Bill and Hill in the halls of the WH just doesn't give him that space. And you just know that Bill would be there every day!

18. I will agree with you on this much
I agree that Obama would need space. The last thing he would need would be Bill looking over his shoulder for every move. But I disagree with the idea that Bill would do that. Now I may be wrong. Bill may do just that and glue his butt to the sofa in the Oval office... but I doubt it. I wouldn't mind if Hill and Bill were consulted on major decisions though IF she were to be selected as VP. If Biden were selected, or Edwards were selected then I hope they too would be consulted on major decisions. But I see what you are saying about space. I just believe that they will give him enough space to do what he needs. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. :)
