How did your local UNITY PARTY go?? |
|
With over 4000 parties around the country, I guess today is the official kick-off of the general campaign.
I attended two parties ~ an office party and a home party. The Clinton supporters were varied in their support, all saying they would vote for Barack but some not sure they'll join us in working for him. There was only one woman who was visibly upset ~ and she was so angry you could feel the vibes from clear across the room. Even so, she's voting for Barack. All in all, a good day!

1. Great! We talked more GOTV and Action than about the past. |
|
Great - We had about 40 people show up. Our meeting was more of a social event - we introduced local candidates and then i announced our GOTV Regional Meeting Calendar - as I am going into different regions of our county to do GOTV meetings starting July 12th. People were excited to get started. We really did talk about hillary vs Obama stuff - It's a relatively small area so everyone knows who was for whom early on - Now it's time to get active!

2. Maybe because they were introducing themselves for the first time... |
|
...our Clinton supporters wanted to be heard, mostly in a polite way.
We're really gearing up here, with lots of GOTV opportunities coming up ~ it definitely is time to get active!

One was actually hosted by a Hillary supporter.
Her take was (paraphrasing here) "Hillary was smeared and subjected to sexist attacks by the mainstream press and some Obama supporters, but that wan't Obama's doing. There's no way she's voting for McCain." The other party was hosted by an African American couple (one of the few families in my lily-white suburb) and third was hosted by a retired couple. We literally had people of all ages (10 to 80) of all races -- even in my lily-white suburb -- and all backgrounds.
It was cool.
