Obama Supporters Take His Middle Name as Their Own
By JODI KANTOR

Emily Nordling has never met a Muslim, at least not to her knowledge. But this spring, Ms. Nordling, a 19-year-old student from Fort Thomas, Ky., gave herself a new middle name on Facebook.com, mimicking her boyfriend and shocking her father.

“Emily Hussein Nordling,” her entry now reads.

With her decision, she joined a growing band of supporters of Senator Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, who are expressing solidarity with him by informally adopting his middle name.

The result is a group of unlikely-sounding Husseins: Jewish and Catholic, Hispanic and Asian and Italian-American, from Jaime Hussein Alvarez of Washington, D.C., to Kelly Hussein Crowley of Norman, Okla., to Sarah Beth Hussein Frumkin of Chicago. . .

4. Just seeing the kids care.
Just seeing them be involved and interested is enough for me. When I saw that 7 mile march in Texas to the early polling place it gave me such hope for our future.

Remember kids, once we get that man in office, don't stop, don't let up, and hold everyone, Dem or Pug, responsible.

29. Wait a minute: I thought we were the pot smokers. What's an iPod? Is that, like, 8-track?
I thought my generation was the pot smoking one.

From what I can remember of college in the early 70s, I think we did a damned fine job of it.

In terms of technology, I'm still trying to adapt to the birth of fax machines.

12. When I read things like this, I am so encouraged about the future of...
this country. Sen. Obama has struck some kind of nerve in the national psyche, not all good mind you, but his willingness to reach across the longheld racial and ethnic divide, and the willingness of the American people (especially young people) to say "NOT THIS TIME", just fills me with all kinds of (dare I say) hope?

And the portrait they're posing with just happens to be one of my favorites. Frenchie has one in her sig line that's my all time favorite.

42. well, the usual result, not that i have contacted him often, is nothing.
i know that you folks are up to your armpits. but i think in all the time i have been here my existence has been acknowledged exactly once. and that was only after following the approved process to start a new group. the answer was no.
i am having a sort of bad day here, and i know i am feeling a little knarly, but it seemed like a way to actually, possible, get someone's attention. i withdraw my suggestion, then. but i still think it would be a great idea.

good to see you, tho, sir.

we were in middle/high school when Reagan came in and let's just say that many of those little preppy kids drank the Kool-Aid and turned into greedy, materialistic types mainly concerned with perfecting their golf swing and buying the latest flat screen or SUV.
