Radio caller said this " We are the nation that spied on MLK and Lennnon this is where we live. FISA is not a law Obama will enforce. We have to focus or we lose it all it is that simple."

Obama will enforce. Think of all those with extra time and money on their hands. Is this the kind of Country we want. Do we want to have Obama not fighting agaist this because we know "hope" he won't use it?

...miss the point entirely. FISA conditions maintain oversight of the Executive Branch by the courts. Skirting FISA to spy on people in this country, citizens or not, re-enforce the right wing premise of an imperial presidency in which the president is more of a king then an executive hired and controlled by the electorate. By stabbing us in the back with his support of the GOP position on FISA, Obama has disposed of a backbone Progressive principle and supported the right wing philiosophy.
Even worse, however, is my sneaking suspicion that Obama knows he is wrong on this issue. A Harvard educated, former law instructor, must see the obvious conflict with civil liberties and the Constitution, yet he is willing to pander to the right wing for a few votes.
"New Politics"?

We saw the last 7 years withdrawing support can only take us to a darker place than imagination. We have 8 years to be principled as we wish after November. Yes, Democrats will let us down that is a given but their historical hit rate for doing the right thing is simply all we have to cling to. So yes FISA is disappointing but we only disappoint ourselves not supporting Democrats this November. I am not really wishing for people to compromise their principles but to cling to a life raft before drowning I am all for giving them as much hell as possible after November we are on safer ground after that. We're on democratic underground the cause to elect democrats for better or worse, the options left are simply sink or swim.
