I would never downplay his experiences in Hanoi Hilton but it looks like McCain wasn't the worlds greatest pilot. However, you have to admit that he did go to Vietnam, more than you can say for the current President.
But the fact that he was a "hero" doesn't necessarily qualify him to be President. There have been many war heroes who would have made poor choices for the highest office in the land. McCain appears to have some anger management problems. A quick temper in a man who has his finger on the button is a personality trait that worries me.
What we need today is a charismatic leader with vision.
