"Swift Boat" flyer pictures from Republican Headquarters in FL
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 04:31 PM by Skinner
Last night after Skinner posted the press releases from the Kerry campaign about the Swift Boat Liars rally flyers, I decided to take a ride by Republican Headquarters to see for myself what was going on.

The Alachua County Republican Headquarters, which is also home for the Bush Campaign is located at 1212 N. Main St. in Gainesville. Of course, they were closed when I went by, at about 8:00 PM. Looking through the glass doors I could see an easel right inside the front door. Posted prominently on this easel is the flyer in question. Listed on this flyer has part of the event are Alachua County Republicans and Alachua Bush/Cheney Committee. Sure looks like they are supporting this event since these groups are listed on the flyer and they are promoting it from their headquarters.

Here are the pictures that I took to document this evidence. Please pass them along to anyone and everyone that you think will be interested.

Thanks
DYEW

7. I called the Sun's tip line last night
what a waste of time that was.

The fellow on the other end kept trying to convince me there was nothing wrong with the local headquarters posting the flyer.

I told him a couple of times if they wanted to get the scoop to send a photographer over, but I doubt if they will do anything.

I did also try to contact our local TV 20 News but couldn't get an answer. I'll try again this morning.

call 'em up and say, "go look at this! film it for a minute! it will be national news!"

do it now before morning when the thugs get there to conceal the evidence!

i don't know if your photos would be admisable in law, or would get on the news... but if it were documented first hand by a reporter, that could make the difference!

4. Email this to the Kerry legal team

and go back on Monday. I'll give you 10 to 1 odds that it's all
gone by early Monday morning (hell, it might be gone by NOW).

I'm pretty sure, along with all of evidence about the people
involved, that this is a clear violation of Federal Election law.

Remember, they hanged Clinton not for having sex, but for lying
about it to a grand jury... and thus breaking the law. Nixon was
forced to resign not because of the Watergate break in, but by
lying about the CREEPs involvement with the burglars.

Hi, I am on the Kerry forum all the time. The story is there, and a mention that the pix are here, but not the pictures themselves. I am computer inept but if someone tells me how, I'll happily post them over there. (I tried copy and paste and it doesn't work for me).

15. Try this.
Go to the page on the kerry website that mentions the pictures. There will be a web address at the top of your browser, in the box that says "Address" or "Location". Select that with your mouse and then click the "Edit" drop-down menu on your browser, and then select "Copy".

Come to DU and reply to this post. Click the "Edit" drop-down menu again and this time select "Paste". That should copy the address into your reply.

You don't have to type any fancy HTML code. Just post the link.

10. I knew that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth line that John Kerry is not
a hero and did not earn his medals struck a familiar ring to the GHWB WWII story by one veteran of that war who claims that Bush bailed out of his thin line of smoke plane(as opposed to the heavily engulfed in smoke and flames plane that Bush One describes), failed to land the plane on the water, and failed to rescue, or attempt to rescue his two crew members who were in the Barbara II with him over the water of ChiChi Jima. The link to that suspicion is in this story of the Swift Boat flyers from the Republican headquarters in Gainesville. NOW how to bring out to light how much they must have paid the original veteran from POPPY's day to use his same line - his same story...and how did they manage to convince the guy to let them use his story, if the story about Bush One is true.

20. Anybody familiar with campaign laws in Florida?
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 09:16 AM by DoYouEverWonder
Would this flyer be subject to campaign laws since both, "Alachua Bush/Cheney Committee" and "Veterans for Bush", are listed has participating organizations?

If this flyer should be subject to campaign laws, then it is clearly in violation of those laws because there is no way to tell who is sponsoring this event and/or who paid for the flyers.

37. Not sure it proves anything.
Unfortunately, someone could have just stapled the flyer up on that board. The flyer partially obscures two other posts. Without independent media confirmation, this could easily be sold as a dirty trick on our part.

If the flyer is still there, you might want to call in the local newspaper. Is there more to authenticate this?

Sorry to play the devil's advocate on this one.

CRAWFORD, Texas - A volunteer for John Kerry said Friday he picked up a flier in a Bush-Cheney campaign office in Gainesville, Fla., promoting Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group the Bush campaign has insisted for weeks it has no connection to.

The Kerry campaign e-mailed the flier to news organizations Friday, declaring that the Bush-Cheney campaign was "busted" for coordinating "in their smear campaign against John Kerry."

At Bush-Cheney campaign headquarters outside Washington, spokesman Steve Schmidt said: "The Bush-Cheney campaign has nothing to do with that piece of paper. ... I don't know how it showed up at the campaign headquarters."

"The Bush-Cheney campaign would object to any flier like this being displayed in any Republican headquarters," said Schmidt. He characterized the campaign operation in Gainesville where the flier was found as county GOP offices used by Bush-Cheney volunteers.

The flier distributed at Alachua County Republican Party headquarters promotes a weekend rally sponsored by "Swift Boat Vets for Truth" and other groups. Bill Shilling, a Kerry volunteer in Gainesville, says he went to the GOP offices there Thursday and picked up the flier from a pile of literature on the table.

Any official presence that may have been planned was no where in sight.

On a similar note, tell me if something in this picture just seems a little off for it to be on a news organizations website. Since Fox News isn't really news i guess it's not a problem to them. lol
