IMO, the following veep "possibilities" aren't serious options and never have been
John Kerry: No chance in hell of him taking a step back from '04.

Al Gore: See Kerry, chance '04 to '00.

John Edwards: No chance in hell of him being on another ticket. Do I really have a reason? No, I just know intuitively this won't happen.

Chuck Hagel: The fact that his name is being floated out there is a smokescreen to make Obamacans think Senator Obama is more conservative than he is. No chance of this ever actually happening though.

Sam Nunn: See Hagel.

Claire McCaskill: A Midwestern senator with even less experience than Senator Obama? Won't happen.

Janet Napolitano: He won't go after McCain's home state like that.

Ed Rendell: I love the man, but he's batshit crazy at times.

Jim Webb: No interest, just elected to his position.

Ted Strickland: See Webb.

Mark Warner: No interest and why take away an easy Senate pickup here? I will admit though that he would have been the best possible choice, but alas...it isn't happening.

So there you go. When thinking about possibilities, I personally think it's silly to even mention these people as possibilities. No chance in hell.

3. I heard a teaser on an upcomming discussion about an
Obama/Edwards ticket on NPR this morning - didn't hear the actual show, though. I don't really discount Edwards, I think he would do it. The rest, yeah, I agree with you on those. You forgot Hillary. My opinion, not to be disresepctful to her, but, too much baggage accompanied by Bill's drama, so no. Obama is a no drama kind of guy.

7. I don't know....having to play second fiddle to yet another candidate that beat him?
I don't know, just don't see it happening.

With regards to Hillary, I don't know. There's either no chance in hell of her happening or she's the top frontrunner. I can't make up my mind on her.

5. A name just came to me
I won't share and I'm probably suffering a case of wishful thinking. Just the same, if Obama chose this person for VP, that choice would be a stunner.

hee :)

12. Well, I do hate to look foolish
And as I said, the person is more about my wishful thinking than say, strategic positioning - at least on that whole foreign policy thang. My secret person has zero foreign policy experience.

23. If I had to guess, that would be the case
If you look at the fact that Virginia has two Dem Senators and Kaine is term limited I'm sure he's eager to take the job. That makes him more attractive than some candidates who would only reluctantly take it.

I'm holding out for Brian Schweitzer but a part of me realizes that there's just not enough strategic value in that pick and he's just someone who appeals to people like me.

17. My dream VP has always been Howard Dean

I really don't care what he brings to the ticket in regard
to National defense, southern states, western states.

I said he was my dream VP.

I haven't been keeping up. He would bring a lot on foreign policy.

But really, he would probably do the most good as SOS.

Governors are fine: Sebelius would be a great choice.

24. I agree except for Nunn and Napolitano
There are enough compelling strategic arguments for Nunn that I'm sure he is being considered. I do agree that he probably won't be picked, but he is on the short list.

Napolitano is also definitely a possibility. Going after McCain's home state is a good strategy if you can pull it off. Having to campaign in your home state is an embarrassment and it would be to Obama's great advantage if he could do that. Napolitano also brings women and she's a western governor. And frankly, as someone pointed out, Kathleen Sebelius is a lightweight compared to Napolitano and the only reason Sebelius is getting more buzz is that she's better looking.

If I could pick anybody living or dead to be Obama's running mate it would be Ann Richards. I think that Napolitano is the closest that we have to her.

Also, Hillary Clinton will not be the VP pick.
