dkos: Anatomy of a Smear 2.0: Flip Flopper
An interesting diary at daily kos <http://dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/7/7/223421/7382/6/547142> .
It's one thing to accuse obama of not taking liberal stances on issues,(I disagree with his position on the FISA bill and on both recent supreme court decisions on guns and the death penalty),
that's not something that republicans can attack him with because they're worse, but when you turn your discontent into labels (flip-flopper) you're then directly helping them propagate the same type of label that hurt John kerry Whether you think it's true in obama's case or not, I think the danger of these actions should be weighed against your desire to see obama elected (if your desire that) . Even from an intellectual view I'm averse to these labels in general, especially when they aren't defined, supported by sufficient criteria, but are pushed and believed to be fact.

I'm not trying to silence all dissent, and disagreement, but if you propagate labels that help the right wing don't be surprised if you meet opposition from other posters and diarists like the one at daily kos, or from the mods on this site. (to my knowledge there is no god given or natural right to say absolutely anything you like on private websites if the owners have restrictions in place) I think that everyone needs to decide how they want to appropriate their time, posting, thinking and doings. If getting obama elected is more important than your disagreement with him, I would hope that your energy and time (however they are appropriated) would similarly reflect this prioritization of your goals and values.

P.S. It's sometimes hard for me to get the tone across that I like in posts and I apologize if this is taken to be overly antagonistic as it was not my intention. When I use "you" it's for any who think it applies to them.
