We're going to win this one, but we've got to have boots on the
ground.

All of us that are "Keyboard Warriors" are doing pretty well; we all know McCain is a clod, and has about as much chance as a head of cabbage being elected president. But there are ways we can ensure he goes down very hard.

For one thing, engage people in civil discussions about both candidates, none of the "Obama is a savior", or, "McCain is an idiot" stuff; but real things like the economy, the infrastructure, the nation as a whole.

I've spent many a year going door to door and standing in grocery lines talking politics. I've planted seeds of doubt about many a candidate, and quite often those seeds have sprouted some pretty good results.

It is all about personal contact, allowing people to explain why they vote in certain ways, (usually against their better interests).

But the point of this post is that we can post all we want, we're singing to the choir. It takes work, usually volunteer work to get people out there to look at things and make judgment calls. Nothing beats discussion on a personal level.

So get in gear, find out where local offices are, where D's are meeting up, don't argue about what flavor bagel to bring to brunch, get facts and use them. Today is the day we have to start getting things in order, don't count on others to do it for you, be pro-active, motivate others, get involved.

Get your boots on the ground and talk up the good points of Obama, (forget McCain, he has nothing). Together, we can bring this nation back to the status it deserves, one of Freedom, Equality and Justice; respected around the world for it's generosity and it's endurance.

Thanks for taking a moment to read this....now let's get to work...:)

3. Years ago, I worked the Mohave County Elections Board, one of
the few D's there, it was an experience.

Some Reagan people showed up and started electioneering just ouside the polling place. I went out and asked they move to a location that was more appropriate, (hell would have been a good place, but it was the 100ft rule back then. They wouldn't move, so, going by the book, I called the number we were given for such an occasion and within 3 minutes AZ Troopers were loading the signs into the trunks of their squad cars and had arrested the perpetrators. They did not fool around, (and FWIW, I would have done the same if D's had been so arrogant).

Never did find out what happened to them in the long run, but I know they were charged and booked into the jail.

11. That's a great story!
I've thought about working the voting stations, but I don't think I could keep my thoughts to myself all day, LOL.

I bet you're not missing AZ these days - it's never below 110.

5. Just spent 3 weeks in Colorado ferreting out new voters.
We can't take anything for granted. Obama intends to win and win BIG, and we must to counter all the election shenanigans that the GOP will no doubt try.

Thanks for the boot to the keister. :patriot:

7. He's got more chance than a head of lettuce, a whole litany of reasons he could win:
Diebold, ES&S, Hart Intercivic, Sequoia, Micro-vote, to name a few.

You could probably throw in some more criminal organizations, but you'd be hard pressed to find one political or national or international reason he could win.

It's really just a question of the margin of victory. O needs to win by about 7 or 8% and I hope he does it. For the sake of the country and the world.

9. It can't be said enough.
I know that my recent topic got locked, but I hope people will get the point, however it is made.

If you REALLY SUPPORT HIM (not the "I'll vote for him but d*mned if I'll campaign or send money" people), please buy a button and wear it publicly. Please inform yourself on the issues in YOUR STATE, or neighboring states so that you can talk intelligently about the two candidates.

And please participate in local and border state-in-play meetings, go to mybarackobama.com, and see how you can get involved.

I'm going to a county meeting tomorrow, and a voter registration picnic this weekend. I want to plan a voter registration drive in my neighborhood. (And hopefully won't get shot.)

And if for some reason, you're not comfortable doing this because you're shy or don't like talking to strangers, or prefer not to call attention to yourself, you can still talk to your friends, and ask them to campaign on your behalf. You can give a few dollars so that THEY have buttons.

Never underestimate the power of your voice. A lot of people simply don't know how to get involved. But if you tell them how, many of them will. Talk it up. There's strength in numbers.

And even I've heard that it's FUN! :-)
