McCain desperately attempting to paint Obama as a "flip-flopper"..
McCain and the Republicans are attempting to do to Obama what they did to Al Gore and John Kerry so successfully. That is, to portray him as a "flip-flopper" and lacking in character. In a word, a liar. It is beyond ironic that McCain, a Senator who flip-flops and changes positions more often than his underwear, criticizes Barack Obama for "flip-flopping" on the FISA bill.

Just as they blatantly accused Obama of changing his position on withdrawal of troops from Iraq. Just as they say he changes positions so many times that no one knows where he stands? Their whole purpose is to tear down Obama by saying he is not trustworthy enough to hold the office of the Presidency.

It is a character attack of the lowest denomination. Simply to dress it up with flowery language like "flip-flopper" does not change what it is. They are attacking the character and qualifications of Barack Obama by falsely accusing him of being a liar and thus, not a person that is good enough to be the President of the United States.

They do not attack his positions on the issues. They attack him personally. For example, Obama has the same position as John McCain on the FISA, as much as we dislike to admit it. However, he is not attacked for his position on FISA. He is attacked as "flip-flopping" on the issue. That is all fair and square but there cannot be a double standard if we are going to use character attacks to determine who will be the next President. The gloves will have to come off soon.

3. "flip-flopper" has been a repug staple since 1988
but I think they blew out its usefulness in 2004. Plus it is a bit hard to paint your opponent in this negative light when your own candidate is one of the greatest position changers of all times. Even to the point of denouncing some of his own signature legislation.
The sad thing is that even using the term 'flip-flopper' immediately conjures up a democrat. We are using their words also uses the connotations that the media has put with them. I hope someday we will no longer hear the republican orwellian language.
Pretty obvious McCain is just mouthing words with little thought behind them.

4. I wish he'd flop back to the right side on the FISA vote.
There's nothing wrong with any politician's changing his or her mind, as long as it is a change for the better.

5. Luckily we have video of John Sidney McCain III opposing himself
The corporate media are pretending John is just a regular guy-- a down home fella. And yet they don't mention which of the seven estates they are planning to visit to have a beer with husband of heiress, son & grandson of admirals, John Sidney McCain III.

6. Anyone should be permitted to change their position at least one time...
on any issue, without being called a "flip-flopper". If you change positions one time, then you are a flipper. If you change it twice, then you could legitimately be called a "flip-flopper". Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds, if I might paraphrase? I do not want someone in charge of our nation who is unable to change their minds in the face of changing realities. That is not a strength - that is a dangerous weakness.
