McCain says Social Security is a disgrace...
"Americans have got to understand that we are paying present-day retirees with the taxes paid by young workers in America today. And that's a disgrace. It's an absolute disgrace, and it's got to be fixed."

5. A flunky at the bottom of his Annapolis class who is only where he is
because Grampy and daddy were Admirals and pulled the strings that got him into Naval Aviator school and where he is now. Just like Bush's grampy and daddy got him where he is. It's only the BS name recognition that got these stooges in our faces, nothing to do with ability.

6. Is McCain old enough to get his full SS $
no matter how much money he makes otherwise? It would be very interesting to know if he's accepting these disgraceful SS $ in spite of being very wealthy and getting/earning a senator's salary.

11. Actually, he has a point... or he would if...
If you look at how companies historically have paid pensions, it has been from their profits and investments.

It would be better if social security was paid as a result of some investment pay-off, such as municipal bonds.

Similarly, it would be better if the taxes that are set aside for social security by "young workers" were invested with the profits paid out, with some turn-over, instead of directly from one place to another.

The only downside is that sometimes investments fail.

I think a mix would be better. Kind of like a hedged fund. Have a portion of the money come directly from the social security tax that workers now pay... and another portion come from some kind of investment return.

But, oops... we don't have an investment return. We're in debt...

Well, it was a nice try. It may be a "disgrace", and it may need to be "fixed", but addressing the national debt and balancing the budget... and spending less on stupid wars... would probably free up a lot more money than McCain wants to discuss.

Oh. And for the record, I am against privatization.
