20. Personally, he's a nice guy, but he shouldn't be in a
decision-making position because he continues to 'cross the aisle' to the detriment of us all. Are all these people voting 'Nay' DLC dems?

I've just been asked to schedule a DE dignitary introduce our singing group (30th anniversary and all) and Tom's name came up. I cringed - UGH! I'm scrounging for other DE dignitaries. I'm not sure who else exists.

I don't think Biden would do it - Hopefully it's because he'll be to busy campaigning with Obama ;)

who sided with the GOP on this? It'll all be outrage over Obama eventually voting to support the bill itself, even though he voted to strip immunity from it.

voted to keep immunity in the bill. One will hear from me again on this - I had called and emailed prior to the vote. The other is a lost cause.

22. You have put your finger on it.
There will be those who will scream holy hell that he should now vote against the bill entirely because it keeps the CIVIL immunity clause.

It does NOT bar CRIMINAL prosecution, but only civil suits......I think he is doing the right thing, and I'll bet it will pass overwhelmingly.

We must win in November. And with a Justice Department that won't be filled with idiots and Bush ass kissers, we might even be able to prosecute successfully.

44. Obama deserves outrage if he votes for this bill
I'm glad he voted to strip immunity from the bill. He was voting to strip a bad provision from an otherwise bad bill. If he now votes for the bad bill he deserves what he gets.

Not necessarily the individuals, but any themes that run through them. Geographical interests? Senate committee membership? Public records on the subject?

Those Senators will be needed to help with administration proposals next year.....what's up?

We can start from there.

Rockefeller, Webb, and McCaskill are not DLC, but Webb and McCaskill were brought in by Chuck Schumer's DSCC, which has been a BIG recruiter of corporate Democrats.

Rockefeller has big $$ from telecom companies, from what I understand.

Also, don't forget that AT&T alone, not counting the rest of thew telecom industry spent 1.2 million dollars lobbying democrats last year.

48. Why? Ever looked at their voting record on such issues?
It is beyond me why people do not get where people stand on such issues, which does not mean they are not on the right side on others.

Most democratic senators have strong points and weak points. Knowing what their strong and weak points are avoids disappointments.

And its not like their average constituent would really care one way or the other, or is even aware that this vote is going on, but they're voting for keeping us all in the dark -- about the illegalities of the Bush administration. Pathetic.

no matter what he does. In fact, no matter what he does and what he doesn't do will always fall short of the expectations of a few.

So sad really. We've got one of the best candidates we've had in years who is hands down head and shoulders above the warmongering, hawkish, senile alternative any day of the week.

47. Double standard
When there is a provision in a bill that is unacceptable to Republicans, they call it a "poison pill".

When there is a provision in a bill that is (or should be) unacceptable to Democrats, we call it a "compromise".

These folks clearly have something to hide, as anyone could see these SOB's deserve NOTHING in the form of protection. Qwest was the lone major company that said, NO, the rest caved into Der Fuhrer! So, those on the no list will not be selected by Obama, not that it was a surprise, but Bayh can kiss any dreams of being VP goodbye!
