WHO CARES?! Yes, we know Clinton voted no, and Obama voted yes. |
|
STAY FOCUSED ON THE TASK AT HAND - OBAMA ALREADY PROMISED THAT HE WILL FIX/FIGHT FISA RULES WHEN HE IS PRESIDENT. ONLY CHIMP CAN ABUSE THIS THING FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS BUT WE ARE WATCHING HIM LIKE HAWKS.

8. Because the one issue that he's most vulnerable on is national security! |
|
The GOP is waiting to hammer him as weak on terrorism any way they can.
So why give them a weapon when as you say as a practical matter - it wouldn't have changed the overall outcome?

15. The majority of this country is EASILY terrified of any perceived terrorist threat. |
|
We are being incredibly NAIVE if we think Obama doesn't have to work overtime to protect himself from attacks on that front.
Be honest: If you poll most Americans and asked them if they'd be okay with wiretapping if it meant they and their kids would be safer from terrorist attacks, guess what their answer would be.

Had John McCain bothered to vote on FISA, I have no doubt you would be trumpeting his vote as proof of his being unfit to hold the Presidency.

Anyone checked the infamous pro-Hillary sites to see if they planned on trying to use this to disrupt?

13. ... and Obama supporters, like this one. The response to Obama should be... |
|
Yes, he sold out on this issue. For whatever reason, he sold out. He is not perfect. He will make mistakes. He is not as liberal as most people on DU, so we have to get used to being mad at him from time to time. He will disappoint even disgust us from time to time.
But, we have learned that it is not a good thing to throw out the baby just because we can't have the bathwater. Yes, if we had our druthers, Kucinich would be president, but that isn't going to happen. So, now what? We do the best we can with what we have. We vote for Obama, even with this disgusting cave-in, because our lives and our laws will be better with him as president.

HRC supporters likely were resigned to this kind of politics long ago. No reason for us to be upset anymore beyond a little wistful smugness. It's more likely the Obama supporters who had different expectations that are upset.
But what would be the point of your post anyway?

As do a few thousand others I have encountered in the past week or two.
Besides, why should I trust Obama to fix it later when he said he would support a filibuster, then voted against one today?
I will vote for him.
But I will not forget or forgive what he did today.
I am a bit too old to become a cheerleader anyway, at this late date.

Obama is the one who decides which bills pass and which do not. That's why there is so much pressure on him.

You have no clue what you are talking about unless I missed the part where Obama was sworn in as president and obtained veto power.
