When the (inevitable) "October Surprise" comes (*cough* terrorist attack *cough*).......

Today's vote by Obama will have inocculated him against charges that

"Obama's vote to block the administration from gathering intel is what allowed this dastardly act to occur!"

....and the non-PUMA trolls among us here at DU will be glad that Obama did what he did today.

1. Ummm......What?
Yeah...too bad about that attack on City X.

But at least Obama can be President.

3. Um..... the "attack" would happen either way... but without today's vote, the GOP could blame Obama
....and the Democrats.

The GOP can't claim that Bush's failure to stop the attack on City X was the fault of Obama or the Dems.

Get it?

4. What a scummy, disgusting, repulsive reply. Honestly, you should be ashamed.
The poster never came close to implying what you did.

Yours is the post full of venom and hateful thoughts.

6. Excuse me?
Jaysus.

I am just amazed at some of the logic around here today.

Variable 'A' might happen so we must do everything Bush wants so that we have a defense against possible criticism?

Really?

8. You accused the poster of ROOTING for a terrorist attack. That's disgusting.
And you know it.

10. The implication of your post is that the poster cared more about Obama winning the election than
a terrorist attack.

And your actual words do indeed imply that the poster feels a terrorist attack is okay as long as Obama is president.

11. You are free to interpret what I said however you like.
However, your "interpretation" is just that.

"Shame on You"

12. I know what you meant, prodn...... but you're wrong.....

The GOP will manufacture an "October Surprise" to scare the American people into worrying more about the "terrorists" than the economy or anything else.

It's a certainty. It's why Osama bin Laden just HAPPENED to release a tape just one week before the 2004 election.

Obama's vote today inocculates him against what will most certainly occur.

15. I guess in your eyes Obama wants to tap into that Charlie Black advantage, eh?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/23/mccain-adviser-another-91_n_108671.html

"The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an "unfortunate event," says Black. "But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us." As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. "Certainly it would be a big advantage to him," says Black."

Good to see Obama is inoculated :scared:

5. It won't be on American soil, but it'll be something the government "could have stopped".
Maybe in Europe with ties to an American embassy or a military base.

14. WOW..just WOW...
yeah thank GOD Obama voted this way! I mean too bad about City X but at least Obama insulated himself politically!

Do people actually READ what they type before they hit post? I mean, we all have our private little conspiracy theory fantasies, but to actually air them on DU instead of spank ourselves is just jumping the shark.

16. I don't believe a terrorist attack would help the
republicans at all. Their whole argument is that a Democrat in office would open us up to attacks that they, and only they, are capable of protecting us from.A terrorist attack would prove that we've spent millions supposedly "fighting them over there" without any real benefit. No silly conspiracy theory is behind Obama's vote. It's political expediency that has nothing to do with a coming terrorist attack.
