Jesse Jr. statement on Jesse Sr.'s comments. . .classic
Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 05:41 PM by wndycty
BOLD added for emphasis

"I'm deeply outraged and disappointed in Reverend Jackson's reckless statements about Senator Barack Obama so, I thorougly reject and repudiate his ugly rhetoric. He should keep hope alive and any personal attacks and insults to himself."

I just saw it on ABC7 here in Chicago. LOL

ON EDIT: The quote is contained in the last paragraph of the linked Washington Post blog.

7. Oh my!
Ever since it was found out
that Jesse Jackson had an affair
and a baby out of wedlock while
he a minister,
he shouldn't talk about
individual responsibility,
and how others critique a community,
that they are a part of.

12. I Have No Idea What Jackson Said
Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 05:40 PM by Crisco
But I do know he claims it wasn't intended for public consumption.

The very fact that one of the greatest African-American leaders - shit, one of the greatest leaders, period - this country has ever known should have to tip-toe through the candidacy of this up and comer who may be our next president, only confirms my reservations.

And Junior's a fucking turd.

18. "up and comer"? Really?
First, Jesse doesn't have to tiptoe; he simply has to not say stuff about cutting Sen Obama's "nuts" off, particularly on a hot mic. And what Rev Jackson saying ill-advised things on a mic have to do with your "reservations" is beyond me.

On the national scene, Obama was no one until he got picked for the "Dean Dozen" in 2004.

it is more than a little condescending to call the party's nominee
an "up and comer."

But maybe you think it's great that he talked about cutting Obama's nuts off.

22. if Jessie- a man who claims to be 'spiritual'- thinks there is
Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 05:54 PM by Bluerthanblue
room for comments not "Intended for public consumption"- while saying he 'would like to rip Obama's nuts off', maybe you might want to check on your 'reservations' again:shrug:.

There are qualities about Rev.Jackson I admire and like- he screwed up on this one, and trying to defend his actions, by calling his son a "fucking turd"- well, on second thought..... it's possible the words of Rev.Jackson are something you applaud-

If so, I feel sad for you- and hope you'll come out at a better place.

:hi:

peace~

13. Hmm. It was a stupid comment, but Jr isn't a sliver of what his old man is.
Jr's alright, but he's taken the easy road where his father fought death threats and violence to serve a country that doesn't want him. Seems like that comment, while accurate in its intent, could have been a little more respectful.

On the other hand, Jackson needs to be whopped aside the head for saying anything where a FOX microphone was present. You know they'd keep a mic on just to catch Jackson slipping up. Hell, they've probably got his dressing room, the waiting room, the lounge, and the parking lot bugged just for guests like Jackson.

Just MHO.

19. "taken the easy road"?
"Jr's alright, but he's taken the easy road where his father fought death threats and violence to serve a country that doesn't want him. "

Total garbage. Jackson Sr. fought, marched and protested so that the next generation wouldn't have to face death threats and violence. And now you want to throw that back into Jr's face as "having it easy".

Total Bullshit. That's just the same old "My generation had it tougher than you/My generation's issues are more important than the next generation's" shit that people have been spewing for all time.

23. Bullshit.
That's an allusion to the fact that Jr hasn't lived up to his potential. His reputation is of always taking the easy road in Congress and in other ventures.

His father fought hard to run for president, and has faced malicious slanders (look at the post above yours, for instance) to fight for his causes. Jr doesn't have that ability. He's run on name and his father's reputation, done a little, but not done a lot. One example--after the 2000 election he proposed a "right to vote" amendment requiring that the president by chosen by election (that's not a Constitutional requirement, even though it is the current system). He did little more than propose it, and it's gone nowhere.

I like him, I like most of his views, but he has little focus, and no real ability to push a project against impossible odds. Unlike his father, Jr takes the easy way.
