Somehow Obama saying that people should also speak Spanish is controversy.
CNN (Dobbs, Schneider, Yelliin specifically) is killing Obama for saying that it would be good for people to also speak Spanish. I can't believe it. I guess it would be a bad thing for Americans to be bi-lingual. This is so dumb.

1. I don't see a problem. Lou Dobbs speaks German like it's a first language.

2. I had a fellow merchant raising hell about that, this morning.
Going on about how preposterous what Obama said was.

And the guy speaks five languages, Mexican being one of them.

16. That's what it is.
Spanish (Castillan, like they teach in School in the US) is not Mexican.

Big difference.

19. Beg to differ. I speak Spanish and don't have to translate to my Latino friends.
Nor they to me.

10. Obama said that people have to learn English but, of course, Dobbs doesn't mention that part.

He said that immigrants will learn english and has been saying that the whole time. He wrote about that in the Audacity.

9. He's long said he believes in the country being bilingual.
The attitude some Americans have about other languages is downright ignorant.

14. So simple and so sad.
One of the things that I hate when I travel abroad is when I have people come up to me speaking perfect English and it's part of their basic education. I speak a little Spanish and even less French and I just feel ignorant. Really lame for us.

13. Since the main two languages of the Americas
North and South are English and Spanish, it would only make sense to focus more on Spanish than say German or French or Chinese. But the yelling heads would have nothing to soil themselves over.

Barack Obama sneezes and they want a clarification speech on it. Is he a two sneezer or a three sneezer.. and what does that mean for the American public. Is it more patriotic to use a handkerchief or kleenex.

THAT'S the problem with what he said. Looks like pandering.
