Obama supports FISA cause he wants to protect his own life in the White House
Obama can't come right out and say it, but a President Obama knows that he would be at a high risk of an assassination attempt and he would need all the powers of the government to spy on domestic terrorist organizations, such as those white supremacist skinhead groups. Obama is very smart and he knows that he's gotta protect his life cause there's a lot of whackos out there that will try to do him harm.

1. Yeah right, and If Hillary Clinton had voted for it she would have been a GOP WHORE.
Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 07:52 PM by xultar
I can't believe all this shit. Obama votes for it and he's saving his life and he's running for PResident.

Hillary got RAKED over the COALS for doing shit because she was running.

Why is it o.k. for Obama and not for Hillary?

Just askin.

31. Yep, he's a centrist politician, unlike Hillary.
:sarcasm:

What exactly are you trying to accomplish by bringing up this months-old bitterness about Hillary? None of the people who were anti-Hillary in the primaries (I'll freely admit, I was one of them) are still talking about her in a negative way. Why are you bringing her primary run into this in the first place?

14. All presidents face danger from the assorted nuts
out there,it's the chance one takes in the run for office. It sounds downright reactionary to argue that Obama should be able to use powers well beyond the constitution because he could conceivably be a target, that comes with the territory.Maybe we should give police special rights outside of the laws of the Constitution too?

24. You should care about a Democratic Senator's vote
And, regardless of how one feels about her, she has worn the white hat far more than the black hat during her tenure in the Senate.

28. Your narrow view and short sight
are revealing.

Obama for fuhrer NOW. He needs the power. To protect himself from opposing viewpoints.

He does not need people like Hillary in the senate. She is nothing. We don't need her. He does not need the constitution. He needs POWER and he needs it NOW.

19. Hillary voted for the IWR and Kyl/Lieberman... didn't care about the military members who were going
to die as a result of that!

And in light of what is going on with Iran... Kyl/Lieberman may cause the death of more men and women of the military not to mention Iranians before her friend George Bush gets out of office!

2. good point. i'm probably
going to get "flamed" for this, but i don't see the big deal with FISA. yes, it's unconstitutional but we live in dangerous times. frankly, i don't care if they read my e-mails or listen to my phone conversations. if they can catch terrorists before they act, then it's fine with me.

11. I care. I don't want to live in a Stalinist society. If we have to live like this
we may as well have a dictatorship, and yes, it is that serious and it is a "Big deal" Such a "Big deal " in fact it is the reson we founded this nation. But I guess that doesn't matter anymore. Privacy rights, who needs them? Just think, we wouldn;t have needed the Revolutionary War and we could have quarterwed the British Soldiers!

The Americans of today would have said . "Don't make a fuss, we don't want to upset parliment. They will give us rights one day".

Which part of that sentence does not step on every democratic notion ever uttered?

34. Your argument is right-wing
And it is the same argument people used against the American Revolution...
Hence Franklin's utterance, "Those who would forgo liberty for safety are entitled to neither and will surely lose both."

When you lose yours, I'm sure you'll be okay with it because you'll be safe from all those scary terrorists, or whatever the new enemy is.

Well, it makes as much sense as some of the other rationalizations I've seen posted...

It was a disgraceful vote for an outrageous bill. Thank God some senators were brave enough and conscientious enough to vote against it.

Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 08:49 PM by Hoof Hearted
The president is sworn to protect and defend the constitution, and the constitution exists to protect the people from tyranny, no matter what letter rests inside the parentheses beside the President's name.
