Obama Told MEN To Take Responsibility For The Children They Engender. MEN. Not "Black" Men
Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 09:18 PM by cryingshame
MEN.

Just because the Mediawhores decided to LIE and pretend Obama addressed only black fathers, doesn't mean he did.

I have quite a few friends (black and white) who are fellow women tasked with raising children pretty much on their own with little to no assistance from the fathers.

Thank Goodness it's becoming part of the law that before you get your license renewed or passport issued, you have to check with not owing an alimony.

There are a lot of MEN who have pretty much shrugged off any responsibility for their own children.

1. But Obama's black, right?
So he must have been only talking about black men.

3. Jesse Jackson's non-approval of a candidate is reason, in and of itself, for me to support Obama

(not that I needed any more reasons than I already have).

A majority of welfare recipients are white women with children and no supporting husband. All those that want to lay this on black human beings are delusional or worse.

6. But poverty in single parent households disporportionately affects black families. nt
As 13% of the population they can't be the majority of anything.

5. Sorry, but this has become an issue in the black community.
Sure, whites do the same crap, but the effects are more dire among the poor, and blacks commprise a disproportionate percentage of those in lower income groups. It's seen as a cause of poverty.

12. It's a FAR bigger issue in the black community than in the white ...
because of differentials in poverty and crime rates.

whether black or white, the MSM representation of people of color...all are important issues, but your OP is simply false...this is not the topic to pick to fight these battles...your failure to understand Obama's words and the context is bizarre

11. I don't have a problem with it, but he has addressed black families before
http://www.suntimes.com/news/sweet/819177,CST-NWS-sweet29.article

"I've got to talk about us a little bit," said Obama. "We can't keep on feeding our children junk all day long, giving them no exercise. They are overweight by the time they are 4 or 5 years old, and then we are surprised when they get sick."

"I know how hard it is to get kids to eat properly," Obama said. "But I also know that if folks letting our children drink eight sodas a day, which some parents do, or, you know, eat a bag of potato chips for lunch, or Popeyes for breakfast.

"Y'all have Popeyes out in Beaumont? I know some of y'all you got that cold Popeyes out for breakfast. I know. That's why y'all laughing. ... You can't do that. Children have to have proper nutrition. That affects also how they study, how they learn in school."

17. There's nothing wrong with what Senator Obama said
Bill Cosby has taken the heat too for talking about responsibility in the black community. Truth is truth. But there's this thing about "airing dirty laundry" in public, though.

I think the underlying fear with Jesse (and it's a legit fear) may be of the media taking those kinds of comments out of context and using them to smear/trash black people, and especially black men.

But the media's doing that now, has been doing it forever and will continue to do that at every opportunity, whether Obama or Cosby provide "soundbites" or not.
