FISA: Passed less than 6 hours ago and my life is falling apart already. |
|
Bugs in the butter, sand in the meat. Mild discomfort and bloating. Fever, chills, rockin' pneumonia and the boogie woogie flu. Shingles. Gout. Neuritis and neuralgia.
I don't know about you, but my 4th amendment went away when the Echelon program went live.
Wait: Maybe it was when COINTELPRO bugged and helped destroy the Black Panthers. Wait: Maybe it was when the internment camps during world war II - Wait.
Maybe it REALLY happened when the corporations started selling YOUR personal information like you are just another widget to be exploited. A "Human Resource."
FISA is just the last nail in the coffin.
You lost YOUR right to privacy years ago.

1. Those excuses are just about as good as any for why Obama voted for it. |

8. Nothing to do with what Obama did or didn't do.. |

In 1973 I saw my FBI file. I have no illusions about how much information is available and ready to be used at a moment's notice.
If people are so outraged, why aren't they on the barricades?
We were, I was, to help end the war in Vietnam. Tear gassed, beaten, arrested.
Everyone complains about this but won't be inconvenienced one fucking bit in order to change it.
Thomas Jefferson would have died for this. Us? not so much.
Easier to slime Obama than get off their asses and risk life and limb.

2. Despite FISA gravity, I always felt this more a data gathering effort to sell us peanut butter. |

4. I guarantee that your grocer has more info on you than the US Gov't ever will. |
|
This FISA outrage is so laughable. Already there are companies gathering and compiling data on every purchase and credit card payment you make. There are cameras monitoring you practically everywhere you go. Your employer can demand a urine sample from you and the cops can stop you to make sure you're wearing a seatbelt.

3. Maybe it was when the gov't broke in doors and seized property |
|
For the War On Drugs. Or maybe it was when it became okay for employers to demand urine samples from you and companies to sell your personal information. Maybe it happened when we all had to take our shoes off and subject ourselves to a strip search to board a plane.
I know what you mean. Expect to be flamed. But I know what you mean.

10. The fauxrage around here is the same "I dislike Obama for doing this" |
|
crapola that was polluting this place during the Primaries.
I get tired of the hypocrites and whiners..'
Thanks for your support.
And you're right about everything you wrote - the war on drugs rewrote the constitution way before FISA did.

You're right, this isn't exactly the beginning of the erosion of privacy rights, but hey you can either just give up or fight back. If you're still fighting you have to admit that today was a major battle and we just took it right square in the shorts.
I want my fucking rights BACK, and I ain't quitting here either.
