How Does This Election Directly Affect You? If Proposals Are Carried Out?
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 12:43 AM by Median Democrat
We all have debated numerous issues such as the polls, Cindy McCain's come hither look, patriotism, DUers who annually state that they hate voting for Democratic nominees. Remember Gore and Nader? Anyways, my question is this: If each candidate's proposals are generally carried out, how are you affected? Is it possible that you, personally, would be better off under a McCain Presidency because you work in the oil industry? Is it possible that you would actually be worse off under an Obama presidency because you are a pro baseball player, and the repeal of the Bush tax cuts will sting? Does this election actually make a difference to you assuming that each candidates proposals are generally carried out?

The fact of the matter is that while it is unlikely that all of either candidate's programs will get implemented, a lot of them will be, as we discovered with Bush. So, here are some of the common issues with a link to a summary of their proposals:

1. Tax Policy? No direct impact on me, since I am not pro baseball player with a matching salary.

2. Health Care? Close, since healthy, so under McCain's pro-individual coverage plan, I could get a cheaper rate. But if I actually get sick, that's another matter.

3. Immigration? No direct impact on me.

4. Iraq? Better under Obama due to several family members in armed forces and GI Bill.

5. Enery? No direct impact on me, but SUV loving family may not like Obama fuel efficiency proposals.

6. Education? Obama is way better since I am pro-public school, and do not like vouchers.

7. Guns? Obama, I favor gun control, and believe it keeps my neighborhood safer.

8. Abortion? No direct impact on me, since I am a dude.

9. Social Securitty? Obama. Don't want to rely on private accounts.

10. Environment? Obama. Not a fan oil drilling off my state's coast.

1. Obama, across the board, almost
I need my taxes low and for high income tax breaks to end so that we can become solvent and invest in infrastructure.

I'll really need good health care.

Immigration, don't see much difference there.

Iraq, better for sure.

Energy, huge difference in stated vision and likelihood of success in new direction.

Education, same as above, and as you state.

Guns, I love em but not worried about Obama and my rights.

Abortion, better odds of good picks for Supreme Court, bonus that for other issues.

Social Security...HUGE difference, Obama has the right plan, I want and will need all of my SS benefits, as promised many years ago, and Obama's plan is right.

Environment, absolutely the better candidate.

:hi:

2. The Pubs continue to divide us into fragments.......All evidence points to Pub deception and
continuing the Pub Agenda should McSame wins the Oval.....even down to appointing more Conservative Justices should 1 or 2 retire soon.

If we all wish for a better Nation...we are compelled to vote Blue and continue to vote Blue...

The Dems should take their turn at the Helm...under Bush, our Ship has been on the reef for too long....

Even the Dems have some that should be retired/defeated during subsequent elections as the Evolution of Voting continues acquire better Leaders....
