A true leader and patriot comments on FISA
This Administration also puts forward a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we demand. I will provide our intelligence and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to track and take out the terrorists without undermining our Constitution and our freedom.

That means no more illegal wire-tapping of American citizens. No more national security letters to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime. No more tracking citizens who do nothing more than protest a misguided war. No more ignoring the law when it is inconvenient. That is not who we are. And it is not what is necessary to defeat the terrorists. The FISA court works. The separation of powers works. Our Constitution works. We will again set an example for the world that the law is not subject to the whims of stubborn rulers, and that justice is not arbitrary.

This Administration acts like violating civil liberties is the way to enhance our security. It is not. There are no short-cuts to protecting America, and that is why the fifth part of my strategy is doing the hard and patient work to secure a more resilient homeland.

1. That was not the same bill.
He clearly said he would compromise
this go round.

5. This is the most confusion I've ever had... Randi Rhodes said one thing...
and I thought I understood.

But then I watched Countdown and saw Senator Russ Feingold.

Frankly, friends, it now appears that Obama's vote didn't live up to his promises... but somehow, when he's president, he can fix it all?

Maybe I should sleep on this and someone will explain it to me tomorrow.

Good night and good luck.

6. Randi Rhodes is a Democratic advocate, not a constitutional scholar.
Go read the bill yourself. It's not like the people spouting nonsense about it are any smarter than we are.

8. Thanks, jgraz. I'll do that. I don't expect people to snarl at me! I posted at a very
late hour and thought someone here might be some quick help.

Have a good day!

Warm regards,

Radio Lady in Oregon

9. Aside to jgraz...

By the way, some of the descriptions coming from Sen. Russ Feingold, your neighbor, who was on Countdown last night, seemed contrary to other information which the liberals were still digesting all of yesterday.

It seems to be a developing constitutional situation with many ways to interpret it. Nevermind.

11. Me too mad me too
But I dont think spin from either side of this issue is honest.

This bill is neither the be all end all of protection against terrorists. nor the end of the fourth amendment. The truth is somewhere in the middle.
