According to the ACLU, your 4th Amendment Rights were shredded BUT...
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 03:02 AM by NattPang
that happened back in 2001.

If you thought yesterday's vote
was going to restore your rights,
you were wrong,
and probably shouldn't be interested in politics,
because it is obvious
that you did not have a clue
that your rights
were already gone.

2001 - Patriot Act shredded the 4th Amendment
http://www.aclu.org/safefree/general/17326res20030403.html

2003 - Patriot Act II shredded the 4th Amendment (no sunset clause)
http://www.aclu.org/safefree/general/17326res20030403.html

2005 - The Safe Act of 2005 shredded the 4th Amendment
http://action.aclu.org/reformthepatriotact/safe.html

2007 - The Protect America Act shredded the 4th Amendment
http://www.aclu.org/safefree/nsaspying/31203res20070807.html

2008 - FISA Bill shredded the 4th Amendment although it was a better bill than it could have been.

According to Former ACLU Leader: Congress Should Pass FISA Bill

http://www.openmarket.org/2008/07/08/former-aclu-leader-congress-should-pass-fisa-bill/

The only way that your rights
have even a remote chance
of being restored,
is if Barack Obama
is elected into office.

Feingold on FISA: Elect Obama to reverse 'terrible legislation'
Feingold conceded that public disappointment following gains for Democrats in the 2006 elections was understandable, but said that a Democratic president, "in particular, Barack Obama, should allow us to greatly change this mistake."

"Barack Obama believes in the Constitution," he continued. "He's a constitutional scholar. I believe that he will have a better chance to look at these powers that have been given to the executive branch, he'll be running the executive branch.

I think he will understand and help take the lead in fixing some of the worst provisions."

"I do think that people have a right to be disappointed," he went on, "but they also have a right to hope for change--on this issue, in particular--starting in January."

2. so I'm being asked to believe
that Obama will behave contrary to his stated positions today once he becomes President. That's an issue of faith, and I'm agnostic on this.

4. No. You are asked to know that McCain will behave
exactly as Bush did, if not more so.
It has nothing to do with faith,
and everything to do with common sense.

8. I've never once indicated that I would vote for McCain
or support him in any way. That's nonsensical.

I've said repeatedly that I will vote for Obama. And I will, no matter what.

That doesn't mean that all discussion should be shut down, all criticism dismissed, because McCain is worse.

You may as well say we can't criticize Bush, because Cheney is worse. It's a meaningless, mindless way to try to shut down debate. I'm tired of it.

9. Not voting Obama is voting for McCain
One less vote counted on Obama side,
means he is one vote further from
the presidency.

10. Beats me
I don't have the faith you have. I don't "know him in my heart" like many here seem to.

So far, he's against public campaign finance, for guns, for restrictions on choice, for FISA, for the death penalty for non-murder cases... all things on which I disagree with him. And I haven't had the revelation many have had to reassure me that these are just "fake" positions he has to take. I was told he was different.

26. Mental Distress can be caused by drug abuse,
not enough sleep, etc.

it is a vague term.

Roe v. Wade makes a distinction
on the legality of abortions on
demand after the 2nd trimester.
The 3rd trimester is discused
as not being guaranteed.
But you knew that.

did John Kerry not intend to win? Was it all a charade?

And explain how much "intending to win" can excuse.

Do you believe most Americans hold Republican positions on issues? Is that a good excuse for a democratic candidate taking Republican positions?

Use full sentences in your response.
