That one poll that had McBush leading among pet owners - not really true
Because most pet owners are older married white people, who would probably vote for McBush anyway - regardless of whether or not they owned pets....It's all Demographics....It would be like saying Avril Lavigne fans will vote overwelmingly for Obama..Yeah, they probably will, her fans are mostly young people, & young people are going to be Obama supporters in Nov...

"The AP had a story earlier this week that Pet owners prefer McCain to Obama. Now pollster.com has looked at the crosstabs on that poll carefully and demolished the idea. It turns out pet owners tend to be older married white people--and they favor McCain. Minorities and voters under 30 have fewer pets--and they favor Obama. In other words, the demographics of the petted and the petless are different. If somebody ran a poll on who false teeth wearers prefer it would probably be McCain, not due to his excellent plans for dental health insurance, but due to those people belonging to a distinct demographic group (old people). When analyzing polling data you have to be very careful not to confuse correlation with causation, a subject statisticians have been wrestling with for 50 years".

1. This is what I mean you must alway cross correlate stats...

Like the amount of people who disliked Michelle Obama closely correlated with the amount that liked McCain. Let's be clear though not ALL pet owners or seniors are against Obama.

3. I've had pets all my life and I'm for Obama.
Every person I know that has pets favors Obama. But is that because they have pets, or because I associate with like-minded people? The AP "analysis" is deeply flawed, just as you say.

AP has become the print version of Fox Noise. Everything is hyper-slanted toward Republicans. The "pet owners" story is incredibly sloppy and smacks of desperation.

4. My husband and I are both 57
and have been married nearly 20 years. We have a pet (though she thinks she owns us). We are for Obama. We can't stand repukes. So that makes us what, according to pollster.com?
