State Farm Agent in Louisiana Perpetuates Bogus Obama Quote
These are a couple of photos I received in an email from a Repug of a sign outside a Sate Farm agents office in Mandeville, LA who has decided to takes sides in a big way. It is amazing that the Repugs keep recycling this bogus quote to try make Obama appear stupid. I have never been a State Farm customer for other reasons but this would be enough to for me to find another company if I were. You can go to the Obama page on Snopes and easily debunk this one.

I emailed the guy to let him know he is perpetuating a lie and let's just say he is a real piece of work and leave it at that.

2. State Farm is an arch-conservative company.
It's bad.

Almost my whole family works at the corporate headquarters, as do several of my friends.

None of them are conservative, so they're going to eat this up.

Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 12:10 PM by proud2Blib
Our families have been friends since we were kids. Both of our fathers were involved in our local Democratic party.

It's good to know they don't all drink the red koolaid, isn't it?

edit - darn typos :)

I'm not sure if I'll be able to find out what actions were taken against him (if any), but I'll do what I can.

3. I was a long-time (decades) State Farm customer...
but when State Farm gave $1,000,000 towards Bush's Inaugural Ball, I switched my insurance to Progressive for my car and another insurance company for my homeowner's insurance, and I made sure that they knew why I cancelled my policy with them. I pay more, but I just couldn't stand the thought that my money went towards that. :puke:

This is ridiculous. x(

To see if Warren Buffett (GEICO) could have saved you more on your car insurance. At least Buffett doesn't buy into all the neo-conservative tripe.

13. Something his version of the "truth" can only be found under heavy medication or psychosis
I think a decent reply would be the definitions of "truth" and "fact".

"Truth" is a relative term. "Fact" is not.

There can be many philosophical "truths" about a subject but there "facts" are non-disputable.

Sorry, but that area of Louisiana is a racist, bigoted, republican shithole. It's the most segregated area I've ever been in; I was amazed at how backwards it is even as compared to Texas!

I actually have to call today and threaten legal action via Met Life to get them to OK a claim I have against them. Their person rear-ended me. Open and shut case. My car has been sitting at the shop a week today with no repairs because they refuse to call my Met Life agent back and OK the claim

Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 05:22 PM by iamthebandfanman
i have received a letter from Mr. Gregg stating the sign has been removed. Hey, he atleast had the guts to write me back to discuss it. So I give him credit for that. He asked why the national company and my agent should suffer because of his beliefs... I told him he should ask himself that question pointed out that he represents more people than just himself when he walks into his office. I told him that i hoped he could continue to express his political views somewhere else more appropriate than a business sign.

37. Good, way to go DU!
Yes, I will also give him credit for replying to me. I think it is important to let people like Mr. Gregg know that they may express their opinion but that doesn't mean that other people cannot take offense and express their own opinions. Yes, we have free speech in this country but that doesn't mean others have to just sit there and agree. Apparently, Mr. Gregg made the incorrect assumption that everyone else believed the way he did.
