McCain's Economic Adviser, Phil Gramm, called us a "nation of whiners"-we should exploit that! |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 12:15 PM by jenmito
He said we're in a "MENTAL depression," and Obama's campaign reacted, but only on the "mental recession" part. The way McCain keeps Obama's "bitter" comments going, claiming Obama thinks middle America is full of people who are bitter and cling to their religion and guns, I wish Obama's campaign would use Gramm's "nation of whiners" against McCain. That seems like an "elitist" thing to say. Don't you agree?
Gramm's full statement: "You've heard of mental depression; this is a mental recesseion...we have sort of become a nation of whiners. You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline despite a major export boom that is the primary reason that growth continues in the economy."
And Obama's response through Bill Burton: "The American people know that our economic problems aren't just in their heads. They don't need psychological relief--they need real relief--and that's what Barack Obama will provide as President."

5. Yup-minus the "nation of whiners" part which makes it sound like he's REALLY an out-of-touch elitist |
|
and I wish they'd stress THAT part of today's comments more.

What I see when I see factories shutting down, or foreclosures, or food prices going up, are just products of my mind. Did not know that...

4. Major export boom? I'm part of that, and I can tell you why... the dollar is worthless. |
|
I'm very lucky I export to Europe and buy parts from Taiwan. My brother imports from Europe and he's had to raise his prices drastically.

8. YES! Obama just mentioned all of these comments-and the audience all booed-and THEN |
|
he said, "America already has one Dr. Phil. Our economy is in REAL trouble, and it isn't 'whining' to want our govt. to step in and give them some relief." (paraphrased)
