Clinton offering debt reduction t-shirts

Posted July 10, 2008 12:30 PM

By Rick Pearson

More than $20 million in the hole and finding reluctance among Sen. Barack Obama's supporters to help retire her campaign debt, Sen. Hillary Clinton urged her backers to help her out by buying a t-shirt.

Not just any t-shirt. A $50 "limited edition" t-shirt, the winner in a contest launched in May when Clinton was still very much an active candidate for the Democratic nomination for the presidency against Obama.

"While the primary race may be over, I think the winning t-shirt -- and it won by a landslide -- still makes a wonderful statement about everything you and I accomplished in this historic race and our determination to keep fighting for what we believe in," Clinton wrote supporters in an e-mail today.

"If you contribute $50 today you'll get a t-shirt with the winning design and continue to help me pay down our campaign debt," she wrote, thanking "Denitza of Weehawken, New Jersey" for submitting the best of 125,000 entries.

1. I just **really** struggle with this.
We've got a general to fund. A ton of this money is going to Mark Penn.

I know, I know. I just can't bring myself to do it.

2. Thank you. Why doesn't Mark Penn waive some of his fee?
He certainly doesn't deserve it.

I'll send her $500.00 if she'll...
...unload any single asset worth more than $1,000 to settle her own debt.

My $100 is probably quite safe.

I wouldn't send her a dollar. She's worth millions. Let her pay her own debts.

17. Where are her 18 MILLION CRACKS IN THE CEILING?

If only 400,000 of that number - JUST OVER 2%!! - buy the shirt, problem solved.

Why do they even need to mention reluctance among Obama supporters as an issue? Why should it be?

:wtf:

For $50, shouldn't it say: "I just paid for one of Mark Penn's lunches and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"??

22. If her 18 million 'supporters' each gave 10$ (what I did)
She'd have 160 million for her senate campaign.

Fuck that. I'm not giving another cent. She should have quit months earlier.

23. She needs to create a separate fund for debts NOT involving Mark Penn.
She should stiff him, if not sue him for gross negligence.

She should worry about all those little folks that will be burned if they don't get paid.
