CNN just spent several minutes calling Obama a flip-floper, with out once mentioning that McCain...
flip-floped on the same issue. They said that the left was angry with Obama b/c of FISA, they said that he was just like Kerry, they said that he was just another politician. Without once mentioning McSame's flip-flop on the same issue... the very first item on this list:

1. Where are the Democratic strategy people????
This should be the first thing out of their mouths and should already be an ad on TV in swing states. You would think after 2004 they would see that these kinds of labels don't take long to stick.

10. Oh boy - this is going to come in very
handy in the fall. I know all of us on this board do politics all year but the vast majority of the voters only tune in after Labor Day. Thanks so much for the link.

Also, we need better strategists - if they can't fight the flip flop label against mccain, they're useless.

We need to spread the word. Also be sure to DIGG this: http://digg.com/political_opinion/3_Facts_That_Could_Change_This_Election_If_We_Share_Them?t=16753400

I've found it to be very persuasive with low info voters. Plus it really frustrates conservatives which is a nice bonus.

16. The problem is actually the same as in 2004
The Kerry campaign did argue that it was Bush who had changed his positions (esp on Iraq) several times - it was NOT REATED by the media

Here, I know that Kerry on FTN gave a great start to a list of McCain 180 degree shifts - until Scheiffer interrupted him with a shocked voice" are you questioning Seantor McCain's integrity - to which Kerry quickly responds, "No his judgement .. and started to list examples. In fact, the reason this had far less legs than Clark's comments to the same man is because there is nothing to repeat without Kerry's list of McCain flip flops or things he was wrong on. The problem though is it means that Kerry reached only those listening to FTN.

21. It needs to be wider (reach more people)
TV ads in swing states, radio ads, strategists on radio shows (and cable shows of course). I'm hoping the big money advantage that Sen Obama is expected to have will mean all of the above.

4. Because we wouldn't ever want a politician to change positions
I mean, HOW DARE George Wallace flip-flop and come out against segregation!

Conservative gun enthusiasts would do well to remember that Charlton Heston was once a big gun control advocate.

Anti-abortionissts would do well to remember that George HW Bush was pro-choice as late as the 1980 Republican primaries.

5. Just about every cable channel does the same thing (w/the
exception of Countdown). Check it out; McSame keeps getting free passes while Obama takes the heat. See, there are McSame Rules and then there's everyone else.

7. As was to be expected
The FISA vote was bad politics. If it was good politics that would be cool, but it was perfectly obvious that it would merely result in furthering the MSM flipflop narrative.

When the media is ragging on you for something, don't go out of your way to do more of it.

It is easy to outsmart yourself in a presidential campaign. Everyone does it at some point.

Fortunately McCain is a disaster, and poorly positioned to take advantage.

19. Yes, really. It should not surprise Dems that the MSM is in the tank for Republicans
When you allow media outlets to be owned by corporations, they become biased in favor of the interests of those corporations.

CNN: Owned by Time-Warner
NBC/MSNBC/CNBC: Owned by GE
CBS: Owned by Viacom
ABC: Owned by Disney

Corporations fare well under Republican administrations. You have to get media outlets out from under the thumb of corporate ownership to try to get rid of the bias.

But until then?

Get used to Obama-bashing while McCain gets a pass. And they WILL use the "righteous anger" of the Left against Obama to paint him as having weak support within his own party.

The media WILL exploit Democratic infighting to McCain's advantage.

20. Not only that, but after all the Obama bashing they let rebups say, without challange,...
that Obama is the one getting a pass, that he is "untested", "not fully vetted".

Oh well, at least the networks spent some time on the "whiners' story, and they reported how polls show that people think he is really old... lol!

11. Let not your heart be troubled. The MSM is just trying to BUILD UP SOME SUSPENSE.
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 04:01 PM by smalll
Look at GDP right now -- one thread tells up Obama is TIED with McCain in North Dakota -- and AHEAD of McCain in Arizona!

And remember last week's poll about the Latino vote? How Obama is set to geometrically landslide McSame amongst those voters, while Bush did OK with them
in 2000 and 2004?

The MSM doesn't love McCain they way it did back in 2000. I think most of them will be happy to see Obama win in the end. They're just trying to keep people interested in the horserace. No race, no ratings!

23. Yes, but the constant ragging by the blogs
gives CNN the perfect reason to pile on.
That's what was meant by saying go ahead
and criticize Obama, but a 20 day rant
isn't going to do much more than
to elect John McCain.

17. It's not his fault. The media is in control of the information flow.
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 04:25 PM by sparosnare
If the MSM reports over and over that Obama flip-flopped, then gives little airtime to his explanation and continues to report that he flip-flopped while letting McCain off the hook completely for all the times he's contradicted himself and flip-flopped, what's the answer? I really don't know.

18. on another note...did anyone just see Hardball?
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 04:31 PM by ErinBerin84
I was doing something at the time, but I had it on in the background, and...did I really just hear Pat Buchanan and Jim Cramer going at it over how bad the economy is, in regards to Phil Gram's comments? As in, Pat arguing for Obama's position ? He sounded PISSED! And Jim "Mad Money" Cramer was of course saying that it was all an illusion, the economy wasn't that bad...and then I went to the screen to see Pat and Jim screaming at each other, with the ironic headline "MCCain advisor calls US Nation of Whiners". What is it that even Pat Buchanan is having a hard time maintaing the spin? I know that Pat is a conservative isolationist, but he has been agreeing with Obama lately..hehe, he hates McCain, the only thing keeping him going is probably the thought of having a black president. Yet, sometimes his spin slips. ...Joe Scarborough was railing against Obama for "making the rookie mistake" of letting his daughters go on tv, and Pat said "It was a real human moment for Obama", which made Joe give him a dirty look.
