ANOTHER issue McCain didn't "recall" voting against...
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 07:41 PM by jenmito
Carly Fiorina, trying to get women Hillary supporters, said, "Many insurance companies cover Viagra for men but not birth control for women. Women want a choice" (paraphrasing) implying McCain would give them that choice. McCain was asked how HE felt about that and claimed he didn't recall his vote on the issue when the reporter told him he voted against forcing insurance companies to cover birth control. How convenient.

ETA-Rachel just pointed out that Fiorina ALSO claimed McCain never voted to try to overturn Roe vs. Wade-and he HAS.

Meanwhile, all the media is talking about is how "Mr. Straight-Talker Himself" was tongue-tied about the subject of Viagra. :eyes:

7. Thank you for posting this. I was in the kitchen so I couldn't hear
what McCain said but the puzzled look on his face was absolutely priceless! He is just asking for jokes about his fading memory at this point.

Heh heh. He probably NEEDS that Viagra.

9. I heard it on the radio
There was an eight second pause before he responded.

Didn't he also respond that he didn't know much about the subject?

Someone said, "He knew enough to vote on the subject".

14. Obama's response should be
"I think it's wrong that insurance companies won't pay for birth control but they will pay for John McCain to get an erection."

18. Seriously I don't even know how McCain even begins to respond to that
The only problem is that Barack would have to somehow manage to make the statement without bursting into laughter while doing it. I know that there's zero chance I could do it but he's a far more talented man than I am.

22. He could've just admitted he voted against forcing insurance companies to cover birth control
but that would've contradicted what Fiorina said/tried to do (by making McCain seem to be pro-choice/pro-women's rights) and ignored the Viagra part altogether.

And Obama could just say the fact that he didn't "recall" how he voted on forcing coverage of birth control (AND his view on Viagra coverage) is just another example of how he's either not the "straight talker" he claims to be.

19. We need to spread that clip around...it only has 200 views.
Everyone in America has seen the Rev. Wright videos, or the Obama in Kenya photo, so it's well past time that we start plastering videos like this everywhere.

20. and I don't really think it was the mention of viagra that made him studder
It was birth control as well, and he didn't want to admit that Fiorina contradicted his "stance". Actually, it was clear that he didn't even know what his "stance" on birth control health insurance coverage should be, and needed to check with his handlers. I thought that was more poignant than just the thought that the viagra mention was what immediately made him uncomfortable.

21. Exactly
This clip just reveals how doddering and unaware McCain is of his own positions; he seems both hollow and generally confused, which is a powerful contradiction of the MSM portrait we're spoon-fed.

24. Exactly, which is why I hated how the media was focusing on the Viagra part, once again ignoring
the seriousness of the REAL issue-that his surrogate lied about his positions in order to woo female voters.

25. well, here's good news...they actually covered it fairly on Anderson Cooper 360
and said that it makes him look really out of touch with female voters and that the worst part was he treated it like it was not a legitimate question, when it should be. I posted about it a bit longer on the CNN/Viagra thread.

like every other show did today.
