The issue with FISA and criticism vs. supporting has largely not been FISA, but REPETITION |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 03:01 AM by Levgreee
It is really this simple.
Some people on this forum disapprove of the FISA decision by Obama. Some approve of, or at least tolerate it.
So what happens when both sides are entrenched and either side repeatedly brings up the same points targeted at the people on the other side! When you post at DU, the people you are talking to, guess who, THE OTHER DUers!. The audience isn't exactly undergoing much fluctuation; you are talking to the same people over and over.
So I think it would do us all some good if people on both sides considered the audience. Almost every talking point, no matter how noble, comes off as aggressive, inflammatory, and unproductive when hammered into the same group of people.
So ask before you bring up a point that has already been discussed/mentioned many times. What do you hope to achieve by giving this repetitive message to the same people? Has repetition ever been the tipping point which pushed the opposing side into agreement? I don't think I've ever seen it happen.

1. Disappointment with Obama's stance on the compromise FISA Bill |
|
Have been stated to no end since June 20th. That was fine, but the vote has now occurred.
The lectures coming from those disappointed by Obama's vote, are not longer constructive, but have become destructive.
Those still criticizing today are officially now helping elect McCain and helping gut our constitutional rights that much deeper.
They are no longer part of the solution so they are now part of the problem.
They are becoming that which you criticize; a hinder in the restoration of our rights. because we can all be certain that McCain will not restore our rights.

Will since you brought it up. FISA update was an unconstitutional move by our democratic candidate and all others who did not stand for the rule of law, but decided to change it to fit the crimes committed against us/it. Please be respectful to those of us on this board who seek dialog on this sad inexcusable shift of opinion by Sen. Obama.
