Holy cow. NPR's Mara Liasson just postulated her VP choice for Obama
Al Gore.

Yeah, yeah, I know, he's too busy, he's already done it before, he doesn't want the job, etc.

Still, it's pretty amazing that the National Political Correspondent of (IMHO) the REAL "most respected news organization" would name him, out of all the possible choices. Especially considering that he's on no short list that I've seen.

1. Yeah, I heard that. :)
It's sweet.

But I doubt he'd take it. He's been there, done that.

2. If Al wanted back into politics
He'd be the democratic nominee and I'd have had an Al Gore sign in my yard since last September.

4. I think this VP prognosticating is hilarious
All of a sudden, everybody thinks they're the Mighty Kreskin.

7. I didn't get the impression this was her actual prediction
But rather who she thought was most qualified, based on what Obama needs as a running mate.

9. He is qualified
And I'm not trying to denigrate her viewpoint.

I'm commenting on this current trend where almost every media outlet has to get in on the VP selecting game. I think it's funny. I think it's brilliant that the Obama campaign says nothing. There's little the press hates more than being shut out. It drives them crazy.

6. She did make logical arguments why he would be the best choice
I agreed with what she was suggesting - I wish Al would consider it, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't.

8. Please, do not waste your time listening to Mara Liasson
first of all she is a Repub lap dog. I used to listen to NPR a lot, years ago, but they have really become National Republican Radio. Understandable, since they need funding.
Secondly... did she just wake up and dream this up ALL BY HERSELF??? Fucking brilliant, really. Give that woman a Pulitzer.

Obama is not going to pick him, and if he did, Gore would not accept. I'd put real cash money down on either of those. Gore has no more interest, and he can do more and be more influential where he is. Remember how he was totally handcuffed in the Clinton administration? Who needs that?

10. Seconded. As a Fox shill, she no longer has any credibility.

11. She may know something others don't, but it does seem like a bit
of a long shot at this point.

That doesn't mean it can't happen and it definitely doesn't mean that I KNOW that it won't happen.

But I'm thinking a short list of maybe 6-7 names: Sebelius, Edwards, Richardson, Biden, Clark, Graham, Sherrod Brown.

That's a working list for just now. Subject to change in 5 minutes.

12. It would "electrify" the ticket, she said....
It was convincing enough evidence for me that most of the Royal Pundits are reading the comics for their news.
