Obama Falls $20 Million Short Of $50 Million Goal!!!

The Wall Street Journal has reported this morning that Senator Barack Obama has only raised $30 million in June, about $20 million short of where he needs to be in order to beat the Republican's $400 million machine in November.

* slinkerwink's diary :: ::
*

Senator Obama only raised $8 million more than John McCain, and the Republican National Committee has $95 million dollars on hand compared to the Democratic National Committee's paltry $3 million dollars.

If these numbers don't scare you for the future of the country, they should, and you need to DONATE if you want a country that's not under four more years of Republican rule. Sure, you can say, "But, but, but, FISA! But, but, but, FISA!" and ignore a whole host of issues that we need a Democratic President to work with us on:

1. Health care.

2. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. The economy.

4. The Supreme Court to prevent the rollback of discrimination laws, property laws, environmental laws, civil rights, and keep habeas corpus solvent.

5. The environment.

6. Affordable early child care.

7. Education for our children.

8. College education.

9. The national public safety system.

10. First responders, our firefighters, and police officers.

11. The highway infrastructure system.

12. Social Security.

13. Medicaid.

14. Medicare.

15. SCHIP.

16. Paid family leave.

17. Equal pay.

18. Our reproductive rights.

Please donate!! Obama opted out of public financing because we proved during the primaries that he had his own mini-public financing network. Now is the time to step up to the plate again.

2. I don't think that $30 million is the official number yet.
It's probably right, but I'll wait for the Obama Campaign to release the official numbers. Also the June DNC numbers.

3. I don't expect him to raise big money until after the Convention.
Unlike the Primarys, we are not having contests ever other week. I think most people are not going to get excited and contribute until the Convention.

7. Yeah, that's pretty weird.
I wish I was able to raise $30 mil - and my ability to raise $30 mil was seen as a isgn of 'trouble.'

That said, the Clintons better light a fire under the asses of their large donors. The 'wooing' stage is over, everybody knows the candidate, it's time to cough up the bucks already.

8. I know! The people who didn't donate think that Obama already has it made
and the people who were donating are withholding cash due to outrage. I'm beginning to wonder if Obama should have taken the public financing.
