If it's that stuff that pisses your base of this year isn't the stuff that will piss them off 8 years later, well, that seems obvious.

Yet when I read the posts at your link, what struck me was just how pissed off people said they were.

It was a close election, and it seems to demonstrate that attempting to win votes by moving toward the so-called center may not be a very good strategy, if doing so pisses off your base.
