The One qualification the VP Nominee should have

Beyond all of the pro forma about being able to step in . . . etc.

We need a VP nominee who will add 5% points to PA, OH, VA, and IN. If we split any two of those states the probability of a win is 70%, if we take 3 then it is 80% and if we take all four it will be a landslide election.

And with that in mind I present you Pollster.com Indiana poll of polls graph showing the backlacks of the donkey giving a kick to the Bush administration

1. If he takes PA, OH, and VA the likelihood of winng is well over 80%
Just winning OH would have been a Kerry victory - and the fact that Blackwell is gone makes that a much beeter chance. Winning those states and the other states Kerry won is a solid victory, which Kerry states to you see him losing? That Indiana is close suggest lanslide potential - as it is VERY VERY red.

There are far more ways to win this year than in 2004 - the difference is less the candidates' appeal or even the 50 state effort - but the fact that there is no incumbent and about 80% of the people think the country is on the wrong track.

2. I don't think he will lose any Kerry state but

should McCain select Romney some people think that Michigan could be turned and some people think that if Tom Ridge was selected then PA could be turned.

5. I hope you're not thinking Edwards.
Some of us women out here don't find "Ken Doll" hunky.

BTW, who is "hunky" in the party? I know there are some nice looking people, but I can't really lay a finger on someone I would call "hunky."

6. Edwards *is* hunky, but I don't want him as the VP candidate.
He didn't do well as a running mate before. Didn't add anything to the ticket (except hunkiness).

7. I completely agree
Whichever candidate can help make these states blue is the one to choose. It doesn't have to be someone from one of those states necessarily, just someone with a lot of appeal there.
