3. No. About McCain changing his story about whose names he gave to his captors
Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 07:58 PM by jenmito
when in Vietnam of his squadron mates (under duress-torture). In Pittsburgh, he claimed he gave the names of the defensive line of the Pittsburgh Steelers when in his book he claimed it was the Green Bay Packers.

6. Oh really - who cares?
Maybe I am missing something but this is the veriest crap. IMO. There are so many reasons to dump on McC. This is the very least of them.

7. Lying, or at the very least pandering isn't enough?
I recall you raking Sen Obama over the coals about much less.

I don't think you can do that.

20. Your record is well known
His upcoming speech in Berlin? "a bit creepy"

His family? His "peddling" (read: pimping) of them is "Quite revolting"

and on and on.

9. Can you imagine McCain
telling this story in eary major city he visits and just naming the local football team as the one whose defensive line he gave to his interogators? That seems to be what he's doing here.

To me it sort of draws into question whether or not he ever really did name some football team instead of his squadron.

11. To me it says that maybe the original story might not even be true.
You would tend to remember something like that.

13. When he comes to San Francisco
I wonder if he will say it was the 49ers who inspired him to keep the names of his squadron secret?

I don't believe a damn word that comes out of this guys mouth.

saved his life in Vietnam by mentioning the goalie, midfielders and Forwards

19. What did they do?
Kick a soccer ball in the heads of his captors?

I know I am being snarky but I can not stand McCain. I think he's unpricipled and amoral. He'll say anything to win and then whine if anyone calls him on the facts.

15. I am sure he is full of it
he is a republican after all.
But still- seems the least of his crimes and ineptitudes.
But - whatever sinks his boat is fine by me.

18. I think the point is
that he makes a big deal about being reluctant to talk about his time a s a POW, yet those pics turn up in nearly every ad. Now he's rattling off the names of the local football teams that he gave up under torture to boost his local support.

This calls into question his integrity and his honesty. He screams foul everytime anyone brings up his service record. No one else can talk about it. No one else can question it. It's off limits to reporters and to his opponents but he can bring it up anytime he wants without question. Even if what he says doesn't jibe with the facts.

The guy is a user and a panderer and will say anything to make himself look good.

This may be the least of his crimes but it is sure symtomatic of what he is all about. He's got nothing. So he has to make shit up.

10. You are missing something as usual
But that comes as no surprise. Sports are very big in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin plus
McCain can't even remember what he said to the Vietnamese or what he wrote in his
own book about something as important as being tortured and giving names.

I am sure you are right. I am sure this is a hugh (!!!) campaign faux pas. major flip flop, error, mistake. And etc. Whatever sinks his boat and punctures his football is fine with me.

23. Voters in Pittsburgh
Along with male NFL fans! This is worse than cheating on your wife! Lying about sports and making up stories kills him with Joe Six Pack NFL fans, it will be a long running joke. I can name the offensive line of the 72 San Francisco 49ers. (sadly some other 49er teams too) When the 49ers were in the glory days in the 80's a guy said I was just jumping on the bandwagon. I listed the names of the 72 line and he bought beers all night. Instant credibility! In McCain's case instant loss of cred.

21. So, McCain lied about his most infamous war story, huh? Why am I not surprised?!!
No, wait, it wasn't the Packers, it was the Dolphins!
No, it was the Colts! When they were in Baltimore!
No, no, it was the 49s, yeah, that's the ticket!

This sonovabitch sounds more and more like Jon Lovitz's old character all the time.

25. McCain told that bullshit story for 35 years without fucking it up until today.
What a douchebag.

Swear to gawd, this is the type of personal anecdote that would never - never - be told wrong if it were true.

McCain is a lying piece of dawg shit - and always was!
