Clinton not being formally vetted for VP
According to Wolfson at least. (I hope this isn't old)

(CNN) — Is the so-called Democratic 'dream ticket' off the table?

Despite speculation that Barack Obama's presidential campaign is seriously considering Hillary Clinton for the No. 2 spot on the Democratic presidential ticket, a former senior advisor to Clinton said Thursday he doesn't think the New York senator is being formally considered for the job.

Howard Wolfson, the former Clinton campaign communications director, told Fox News Thursday he isn't aware of any official effort on behalf of the Obama campaign that suggests the Illinois senator is considering his former rival for his running mate.

Not really a surprise to most of us, but there are still a ton of people out there who believe that this will be the ticket.

1. Might have been CNN's dream ticket. Certainly was Leslie Blitzer's
But a nightmare for the rest of us. Thank God we dodged that bullet.

22. "Leslie" may or may not have been a joke
Edited on Sat Jul-12-08 12:20 AM by newmajority
But I find it hard to believe anyone was born with the name "Wolf".

Eddie Van Halen named his son "Wolfgang", but that's probably as close as it gets.

BTW.... where did the "joke" originate from?

24. HIs name really, truly is "Wolf"
he's named after his german grandfather, as I recall.

The "Leslie" thing was an Al Franken gag.

2. No vetting needed as long as Bill's donor list remains offlimits
Too many skeletons.

they exempted her from the vetting process. But I think it unlikely that it will be her.

11. Er, "vetting" is done to potentials to root out any unknown skeletons in the closet
Clinton has no need of this, as they have been continuously "vetted" since the lte 70's; its all out in the open. So the fact that the Obama team isn't is just because they don't need to reinvent the wheel, not because she isn't a contender.

A very dim-witted article, being unfortunately lapped up with glee by the HillaryHaters around here.

14. This doesn't mean anything
She was vetted during the primaries. Everything she's said and done is on file with the Obama campaign in their oppo research file. Same thing for Bill. The only sticking point would be the donors list and that would be a private conversation between the two Senators and would not be handled by his vetting team.

Submitting her to vetting after 17 months of campaigning would be kind of insulting. Espicially since your oppo team already has a binder with 1000 pages.

an hour long segment on the Clintons. I was listening, and it was mainly about Hillary losing and Bill not supporting Obama yet. Of course, they also played many negative primary clips to keep tensions high. It's ridiculous.

19. Obama vs McCain isn't exciting
You put them side by side and its like putting Wilferd Brimley against Brad Pitt in a swimsuit contest or Angelina Jolie against Bea Arthur.

Hillary vs. Barack was magical and the cable news shows will never have that again and they are very very sad about that.

30. that was random to me too...why that special now?
It didn't really come off as a tribute to their Clintons and their future as much as it came off as a chance to rehash the primaries and promote democratic disunity from showing all of the drama that happened.

27. Personally
I would give the donor issue, the same amount of vetting as I believe the republicans will, if only to be able to counter them well. Whether a conversation vs. using the vetting team will be sufficient is something that I(and perhaps you) don't know but Obama will decide based on what he thinks is best for the strategy that he wants to implement and I plan to support his final decision (well as long as it's not a republican lol). Oh and finally I have very little trust for what howard wolfson said...even when he still had an official role within the campaign, let alone now.

Clintons and the Obamas have too much bad blood left between them, despite these "unity" appearances.

25. I don't believe it will be the ticket either,
But nor do I count out the possibility.

Obama has a little over a month to decide, and I'll bet he'll use
every minute of it. But what a great dilemma to have. He is probably
going nuts trying to decide between Clinton, Clark, Biden, Richardson,
Sibelius, and probably five people we haven't thought of yet.

McCain has Hughie, Dewey and Louie, because no sane Republican wants to
end their political career by being his running mate.
