Front Page of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette today: (McCain and Steelers)
The article says that even the best Steeler fans today could not remember them at the time - they were losers in 1967. This is a great story.

2. this is such an odd story to me...
Could he really think of NOTHING else that reminded him of Pittsburgh other than the Steelers (the first thing that I think of when I think of Pittsburgh is Andy Warhol, hehe. Can you imagine if he had said THAT?), and just thought fast to try and link the former story to this opportunity? I mean, he could have just talked about the Steelers in general, but maybe there was really nothing else to say about them and isn't actually a follower. Was he drilled by his team to bring up his military service/POW experience as much as possible? So strange.

5. Well, being from Pittsburgh, I can understand that he thought of the Steelers first, because
that's the first thing many Pittsburghers think of too. However, I think it was weird that he decided to try to link Pgh and his POW experience--no connection there whatsoever, just a way to pander and remind everyone of his POW thing at the same time. Probably thought no one would ever question one of his war stories.

6. exactly...did he really have nothing else to say about the Steelers other than to bring this up?
I agree, probably just saw it as an opening to talk about his POW experience...and if it really was a "mistake", that's positively frightening.

4. They always squeal when it sticks them where it hurts.
Just like General Clark's comments. This is an important story. It's easy to forget one name or one team but to give several names that were totally different from his initial story is nothing but a bald-faced lie. Sorry, it's bullshit from McCain. I don't buy their story and I will not sweep it under the rug one more time.

7. nothing really matters....
when it comes to the truth for the other side, they don't know how to deal in the subject, so they are willing to look the other way about anything. If they can vote for bu$h, they will most certainly vote for this guy...he looks so much smarter to them, so our only hope is to badly outnumber them.

8. I think this was more McSame pandering. He was on a local TV
station and just can't get the fact that, in this day and age, even these smaller interviews are all over the country in minutes. He didn't make an "honest mistake"...if so, what kind of coincidence is it that an honest mistake just happened to include the name of the team from the city he happens to be stumping in? This was planned and he had no clue anyone would be notice or be paying attention.

And for his campaign to now play victim is hysterical. The MSM covers for McSame constantly and this story isn't going to go any further than it already has.

10. This is a lie. Similar to "sniper fire"
Unnecessarily made up and embellished.

11. I love this story too -- shows JSM III's ease with lying --
how willing he is to even use his POW suffering to further a pandering lie. It is shocking because he used his POW experience to score those flattery points.

12. John McCain lies daily.
This is just another one.
He gets caught at it,
but often it isn't reported on.

Obama, on the other hand,
is called for telling the truth.
If Obama says that American children
should learn a foreign language,
somehow that is an insult.

Up is down.
Square is round.

We need to do something about
the corporate media,
otherwise, they are going to be
the death of us.
