Methinks it is.

Rove's slander is working.

That a-hole!

2. It takes too much effort to pay attention
For some, it's easier to become hysterical.

So far this is hurting Kerry
But if the recent developments over the past 24 hours gets enough news coverage -- the new info from Lambert's Bronze Medal citation, Cmdr.Rood's statement, Pat Runyon's vouching for Kerry's first Purple Heart, this Cordier business -- then it could strangely work in Kerry's favor.

People won't like it when they realize that a war veteran has been smeared.

4. It Is In the Sense That We're Talking About a War That Ended 30+ YEARS AGO
instead of one that's going on right now!!!!!!!!!

But the counter-attacks HAVE to be made, and made big. Bush has a potentially lethal weakness on this issue, so as James Carville said "When your opponent is sinking, throw them an anchor."

We do need to return to a debate about the issues facing us NOW though. All this swift boat coverage is time that WON'T be spent covering the horrible economy, etc...

18. It's the "media" thing again.
Unfortunately, we have to deal with what THEY choose to focus on.

We have an election to win. After that, Kerry WILL focus on Iraq, Afghanistan, the environment, education, healthcare, and many many other things.

5. how is this bad?
it focuses on kerry's medals, which reminds people that he actually served in combat.

it sets up the contrast of kerry's service during vietnam vs. bush's avoidance of service during vietnam.

it displaces worse dirty tricks, e.g., while they're questioning his medals, they're not painting him as a commie liberal.

i really don't think it's bad, and i remain BAFFLED as to why the bushies ever thought it would be a good idea to call attention to kerry's military service. they should have ignored it and tried to minimize it and treat it as ancient history, which at least would be consistent with the way they want us to view bush's history during the same time.

6. My only explanation
is that you've gotten used to the kid-glove treatment from the media and thought they could continue to get away with anything. This is FAR from over, however.

7. Actually no.....
The Swiftboaters have been discredited and at the same time, ties are beginning to come into focus that link Bush to the Swiftboat ads...

If this thing collapses even more...and if Kerry's FCC Claim is ruled against Bush's favor...it will be huge...

No, no...I think in this scenario, Kerry has turned his own swiftboat toward the shore at the enemy who has been firing at him from behind...that enemy is Karl Rove....and I think it's going to end up pretty much the same...metaphorically...

8. The point is
to supress the vote.

The Reukes throw slime to turn off voters because that is to their advantage.

Hopefully, this slime-attack may have the opposite outcome.

9. Nope.
Kerry doesn't have to do anything but carry on with the real issues...the rest of us, including a LOT of VERY ANGRY journalists, vets, and even *gasp* Republicans are attacking SBLiars and bush over this. :)

Check out the Sunday morning shows tomorrow and then, if you still feel this shit is sticking, feel free to panic.

No need to worry. This story has peaked and the SwiftyLiars are headed for the obscurity that they deserve. Money buys a lot, but it can't change history.

14. This is a bump on the road to the WH
Once the inital storm passes, all Kerry has to do is say something like, "OK, now that Mr. Bush has (or has not, ie "refused") to disavow the ads, lets get back to a discussion of the problems facing the country now; health care, jobs, the economy.

In other words, blame the bump on Bush and start talking about issues.

If Bush doesn't disavow the ads, then simply mention that fact in each speach and move on.

Better to get it out of the way now.

16. This will be great. Rove is stupid enough to leave a really good trail
behind...a trail from the SwiftVets leading right to the Bush administration.

The good thing is that a lot of people are researching that issue. It seems that some of the SwiftVets were working for the Bush campaign. We already have gathered quite a bit of evidence...

This will be the downfall of this administration.

AWOL Bush who used his daddy's connection to dodge the draft is trying to smear a real Vietnam Hero. John Kerry volunteered to fight, kill, and die for his country. He was lucky to survive. Many of his fellow comrades did not. And Bush, who was AWOL from the National Guard for some time, who had DUIs, and who was snorting coke while Kerry was defending America, he is trying to smear a Vietnam Veteran. Go ahead, Frat Boy, make my day

17. Everything is going as planned
Thursday Kerry calls Bush out.
The Florida flyer is a left jab.
Today's release of Cordier being on the steering committee is a right jab.
The McCain video is another right to the head.
Bush is reeling back (actually in Crawford drinking up a storm).
Monday's release will be Kerry's upper cut to lay Bush out to dry.

The little idiot outed himself on the "Rove Phone Call" thread.

Couldn't contain himself.

They seem to be...I dunno...getting sloppy now.

Wonder why? :)
