5. The people going to catch their trains, or subway, and will see this cover
at the newsstand, don't read the New Yorker.
They just see the cover.
That's a problem
that the New Yorker
Created.

I don't see it as a problem. I see it as an opportunity for the Obama campaign to have an open discussion of the ridiculous rumors circulating.

seen by thousands who won't read the accompanying article or even know that The New Yorker uses satire on its covers.

Anyone exposed to this cover, for even a fleeting second, will forever associate Barack with terrorist-fist jabbing, the Koran, and burning American flags. Geeesh.

for saying Chelsea was pimped by her parents.
Then free speech becomes questionnable,
doesn't it?

37. Which is why O said "no" to anymore interviews w/his children - no need to expose unnecessarily, IMO
and I agree about Moms! My older son is 36 and my "baby" is 33, but they will ALWAYS be my children, no matter how old. Ask my 102 year old grandmother - it is touching to see her still react "like a mom" to her 80 year old daughter (mu aunt).

30. if the justification is "free speech"- the article doesn't matter squat-
And neither does the argument that 'children' should not be attacked- If all speech is 'free'- that would mean what was said about Chelsea- and the "nappy headed ho's" and all sorts of really destructive crap.

It's always a question of "perspective"-

The CARTOON 'attacks' the Obamas- at FACE VALUE- it doesn't matter what their intent MAY have really been- (I'm not really sure after all this crap), what DOES matter is the actual damage it does.

I DON'T believe the reporter who said what he did about Chelsea intended to hurt her, but he did. And an apology was not out of line.

23. from The New York Review of Magazines:
"The New Yorker— The 940,000 readers of The New Yorker live mainly on the deep-blue coasts. Its strongest swing-state growth has come in places with little power in the Electoral College, like New Hampshire and New Mexico..."

Just sayin'.
