I was just over to the convenience to buy my lotto tickets, a pack of smokes and a sixpack. Thought I'd check out the nudie mags and maybe see what the Enquirer's talking about this week. Was just about to head home to write some more checks that will bounce for sure, when I saw the cover of some slick magazine called the Yew Norker or something like that. And there's Barry and his missus on it. Turned my head around, and how.
I wasn't going to vote this fall, just like usual. But I have to do what I can to save this nation from radicals like Osama bin Barack.

12. And therein lies the potential problem. |
|
While far from being the New Yorker's target audience, they sure caught your eye - and in so doing, validated the image of Obama the RW have been selling you all along.
Low information voters don't know from satire - but they recognize a Muslim-garbed, flag-burning terra-ist when they see his pitcher on the front of one of them slick-and-fancy librul magazines.
I have no doubt that this was never the New Yorker's intent, but it may nonetheless be an inadvertent consequence.

Why should the low information voters bother to read an article, with actual words and stuff when they can just see the picture on Drudge. That tells them all they need to know. And sadly, it will not tell them that they are being made fun of.

Quite frankly, the working class barely have time to browse news stands and most discount grocery stores or Wally Marts don't even carry that mag and I rarely see anyone at my local "high end" grocery store even bothering with the book and mag section. People aren't bothering with buying mags now, from what I've observed. The only people that would even look at that mag are people with time and money on their hands. Just my opinion, of course. ;)

When one magazine's cover can turn an Obama romp to victory into another guaranteed Democratic presidential loss, it's high time to do away with freedom of the press.
Until we can amend the Consitution as necessary, the least we can do at this point are nationwide public book-burnings of Stewart Little, Charlotte's Web, and the Elements of Style.

61. Cheese and Crackers! Got all muddy! |
|
I was just at the dentist's office, waiting for my kids to get their teeth filled, and as usual, most of the magazines in the waiting room were full of liberal bias and filth. I've asked the receptionist time and time to carry something more appropriate, but she never does. They're the doctor's old magazines, she said. He's too cheap to buy new ones for the office. I definitely don't approve of his taste in reading materials! I'd take the kids elsewhere, but this is the only dentist our insurer covers. I should have brought a book, I thought.
Then I saw a magazine with the same picture my cousin mailed me last week. I always take what he writes with a grain of salt, because he's a little off the deep end, if you know what I mean, but I know for a fact that this magazine, the New Yorker, is a liberal rag. I've heard Hannity talk about it millions of times, and Susie's crazy English teacher tried to get the school library to carry it. (Thankfully, the other PTA moms and I said, "No way!" We got a subscription to Guideposts instead.)
But this magazine was carrying the same picture my cousin sent! Guess it must be true, if a liberal magazine would print the same picture. I'm so glad I found out about Obama. I was a little uneasy about voting for McCain-- my sons are age 13 and 15 and I don't want to see them drafted into a war that everyone knows was a bad idea. Plus, at times he seems, well, senile. But voting for a Muslim terrorist is even worse. And who does that Michelle Obama think she is? I think Rush was right when he called her a feminazi!

I forgot. No "journalist" looking for an angle ever reads DU. No faux news intern looking for some "data" to bolster a story about the elitist left is ever going to check in here.
Thanks for making such a cogent point.
My point, however, was about the middle class, educated, suburban mom who leans conservative, but sometimes votes democratic. We need her vote to win. And though she may not buy the New Yorker, she will find out about this cover.
