one of our magazine covers in an abscure little burg outside Manhattan. We always like these sorts of outings, it gives us a fresh perspective that cleans our mouth like a creamy orange sherbert between courses. Where would we go? What little hamlet would not have a newsstand these days? Looking southward for obvious reasons we found a little back water town that was in central Alabama. One of our staff suggested Northern New Jersey, but as a rule, we never go there, instead flying over to land at the nearest airport that keeps us from mingling with the tunnel trade.
Our little town, BumFuck was a place that Capote would love. It's a tiny town, with all the characters from his early writings come to life. After asking the mayor where one would find the smartest man in town, he pointed us in the direction of a small corner store. Inside was a gentleman that was in his sixties, and yes indeed, he had quite a collection of magazines. "Most people here read, but don't get them jokes you all make", he said with a wad of something in his mouth.
We asked if he had any responses from our cover that has stirred up a hornets nest outside our little island of Manhattan. We asked if he kenw it was a joke.
"Joke?", get the Hell outa here.
We decided on the flight back to have more than our usual amount of drinks, and wondered if that British woman that ran our little magazine had any openings where she was.

1. Interesting! Where did you find that? |

As a New Yorker, I have to smile at this line: "One of our staff suggested Northern New Jersey, but as a rule, we never go there, instead flying over to land at the nearest airport that keeps us from mingling with the tunnel trade."

Tina Brown hasn't run the magazine in 10 years. David Remnick does.
