Heh, well, this should be sufficiently painful!

On a McCain campaign conference call dedicated to piling on Obama's Iraq op-ed and his position on the surge, Randy Scheunemann drops a hint that McCain will speak on Afghanistan later this week -- and Sen. Lindsey Graham follows up by saying it will be Thursday.
Graham, and campaign senior foreign policy adviser Kori Schake, honed in on a central disagreement that I looked at a couple weeks ago: Obama thinks that America should be focused on Islamic extremism in Afghanistan -- where Al Qaeda and the Taliban have been on the comeback -- instead of the "diversion" of Iraq.
Graham hoped that Obama's upcoming visit to Iraq -- where he'll meet with General David Petraeus -- would change his mind. “I hope he’ll be convinced that Iraq is a central battle in the war on terror,” he said.
Schake argued that Obama was over-focusing on Afghanistan, which could give short shrift to the upsurge in threats around the world and in Iraq -- a sort of reversal of the Obama argument that McCain and Bush "took their eye off the ball" when it came to Iraq and terrorism.
